Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Tuesday brings a solid six-game slate that includes heavy hitters such as Anthony Davis and James Harden. With an array of several other second-tier stars and plenty of value also in action, here's a look at some of the slate's most appealing options:

GUARDS

Chris Paul, LAC at BKN ($43): Paul has had some recent struggles with turnovers but has still scored between 31.6 and 49.1 fantasy points in five of his last six games. He draws a matchup Tuesday against a Nets squad that's given up the most fantasy points (52.13), most rebounds (8.27), sixth-most assists (9.0) and, particularly relevant in Paul's case, the most steals (3.40) per game to point guards this season. Despite the road matchup, it looks like a good bounce-back spot for Paul, who had a modest 25.8 fantasy points in his last game Sunday against the Pacers.

Jordan Clarkson, LAL at NO ($21): Clarkson continues to get extended run in the absence of D'Angelo Russell (knee) despite the fact that veteran Jose Calderon has been the starter. Clarkson has scored between 31.4 and 34.8 fantasy points in three of the last four games, while also playing over 30 minutes in the last two. He could provide a nice return if he gets similar playing time Tuesday, as the Pelicans have allowed the second-most points per game (25.63) to point guards this season.

Guard to Avoid

Evan Fournier, ORL at SA ($22): It admittedly seems like an odd time to label Fournier as an avoid candidate coming off a season-high 49.3 fantasy points against the Bucks, but he'll run into a heavy dose of Danny Green defense Tuesday. Fournier had just 19.9 fantasy points in the game prior to his breakout, so he certainly has his share of valleys, as also evidenced by a four-game stretch earlier in the month when he scored between 20.9 and 23.7 fantasy points. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope ($21), Jordan Clarkson ($21), Ish Smith ($18) and Sean Kilpatrick ($16) all have better prices and are in more favorable matchups.

FORWARDS

Kevin Love, CLE at MIL ($39): Love has been on an absolute tear, scoring between 40.7 and 61.1 fantasy points in four of the last five games, and over 30 in four others over the last 10. He's also ripped off double-doubles in nine of his last 10 game, and could well be in line for more of the same against the Bucks, which allow 42.02 fantasy points and 20.3 points per game to power forwards.

Brandon Ingram, LAL at NO ($11): Ingam is a dollar away from the minimum price, yet he has been providing the returns of a slightly higher-priced player. He's scored double-digit fantasy points in 13 straight games, and he's reached as high as 25 this season. He's also picked it up on the boards over the last two games, tallying nine and eight rebounds, respectively. Meanwhile, the Pelicans have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points (42.47), fourth-most rebounds (9.56) and fifth-most assists (4.44) per game to the position.

Forward to Avoid

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, CHA vs. DET ($21): Kidd-Gilchrist will frequently deal with Marcus Morris and a stingy Pistons defense that's allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game (35.35) to small forwards, including the second-fewest over the last five games. MKG has also scored fewer than 20 fantasy points in three of his last four games, and he seems a bit overpriced for his matchup and upside.

CENTERS

Andre Drummond, DET at CHA ($32): Drummond stands to be in an advantageous position Tuesday against the Hornets, who have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points (48.51) to centers, along with 14.71 rebounds per game. Drummond scored 28.6 fantasy points in a tough matchup against Steven Adams and the Thunder on Saturday, but had scored between 33.5 and 53.5 fantasy points over the prior four games, with double-doubles in each game.

Timofey Mozgov, LAL at NO ($10): Mozgov always carries a bit of risk but makes for a serviceable minimum-priced play for those looking to go cheap at center. He's scored double-digit fantasy points in nine of the last 10 games, a span that's included a pair of outings with 26.6 and 28.7 fantasy points. He doesn't have to generate much to provide a fair return on his price, and he now faces a Pelicans squad that gives up the third-most rebounds (15.89) per game to centers, along with 43.52 fantasy points.

Center to Avoid

Brook Lopez, BKN vs. LAC ($29): Lopez is normally not a candidate for this designation, but he takes on a Clippers defense that's been impressively tough against centers this season. Los Angeles allows the fifth-fewest points (19.6) to centers , while holding them to the second-lowest field-goal percentage (46.7). Rudy Gobert ($27), Pau Gasol ($25) and Tristan Thompson ($16) are all cheaper with arguably better matchups .
