Yahoo DFS Basketball: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

All 10 of Saturday's games are scheduled for the evening, creating an expansive slate full of thrilling action. While the stumbling Knicks are unlikely to emerge victorious against the Cavaliers, they still have two players represented among the top values due to their low prices not matching up with their recent role increases. Read on to find out who those two are, as well as the rest of the night's recommended options:

GUARDS

Klay Thompson, GS at SAC ($29): No team has allowed more 3-pointers per game to shooting guards than Sacramento's 3.5, which is music to Thompson's ears. The sharpshooter has been locked in with averages of 42.4 fantasy points, 25.7 points and 3.7 3-pointers per game over his past three, and he is unlikely to be overshadowed by Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry since the Kings are actually better than average at defending both point guards and small forwards while allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to shooting guards. Considering he also comes in $13 cheaper than Curry and $22 below Durant, Thompson is the no-brainer pick out of Golden State's trio of perimeter threats.

Brandon Jennings, NY vs. CLE ($13): Jennings has played a whopping 42 minutes per game over the past four, thanks in large part to Derrick Rose's (ankle) absence in the past three. That four-game span has seen Jennings average 15.0 points, 6.5 assists and 2.7 3-pointers en route to 34.2 fantasy points per game. With coach Jeff Hornacek suggesting Rose won't be ready to return yet, Jennings will once again get plenty of usage by default.

Guard to Avoid

Kemba Walker, CHA at UTA ($39): Walker is no Michael Jordan, so it's foolish to expect him to play well through an illness against the Jazz. While this ailment didn't slow the former UConn guard down when he posted 43.6 fantasy points against the Warriors back on Jan. 25, it likely contributed to his season-low 13.9 in their rematch Wednesday. Likely still less than 100 percent, Walker will have an even tougher time penetrating a Jazz defense that has allowed a league-low 93.3 points per game.

FORWARDS

Markieff Morris, WAS vs. NO ($27): Morris has been significantly outplaying his value for a while, having averaged 36.4 fantasy points per game over his past 10. He should have no problem delivering strong bang for the buck once again against a Pelicans teams that has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to power forwards. With consistent starter's minutes and a versatile skill set, Morris will likely play himself into a higher price range before long.

Dario Saric, PHI at MIA ($11): Saric has proven capable of handling the increased workload with Robert Covington (hand) sidelined for the past two games. The 22-year-old Croatian has averaged 22.1 fantasy points in 30 minutes per contest over that span, but actually fared even better with 31.5 fantasy points in 27 minutes during Covington's last appearance. Regardless of Covington's status, Saric's recent play has earned him extended run against a weak Heat team that sits just 1.5 games ahead of his 76ers.

Forward to Avoid

Andrew Wiggins, MIN vs. MEM ($31): Delivering a strong performance on the second night of a back-to-back will be a tall order for Wiggins against a Grizzlies team that has been the third-stingiest against small forwards with just 33.3 fantasy points allowed per game. The first overall pick in the 2014 draft has developed into an excellent scorer, but Wiggins is going to be a limited fantasy commodity unless he finds a way to enhance his mediocre output in other categories. As it stands, he simply lacks alternative qualities to make him a viable DFS option when going against stingy scoring defenses.

CENTERS

Willy Hernangomez, NY vs. CLE ($10): Hernangomez has played over 28 minutes per game in his past two appearances, and he is expected to see an even further increase in time after earning praise from Hornacek. That praise was well-deserved considering the Spaniard has averaged 40.0 fantasy points thanks to 15.5 point and 15.0 rebounds per game in the past two, and he is averaging a double-double in under 20 minutes per contest over the past eight. Cleveland gives up the fourth-most rebounds per game to centers, so there's plenty of value to be had at the minimum price.

Marc Gasol, MEM at MIN ($34): Gasol has been returning ridiculous value over the past 10 games, using his inside presence and advanced passing ability for a big man to rack up 44.4 fantasy points per contest. His $34 price severely undersells his true ability, which should once again be on full display against a Timberwolves defense that has allowed centers to score 21.9 points per game. Only the 76ers and Clippers have given up a higher scoring average to the position, so it's no surprise Gasol has eviscerated those two foes to the tune of 44.7 fantasy points per game in four meetings.

Center to Avoid

Nikola Jokic, DEN at SA ($36): Jokic (hip) returned Friday against the Bucks, but coach Mike Malone was adamant that he wouldn't give the Serbian center more than 25-28 minutes in that contest. Expect the Nuggets to exercise similar caution with their prized youngster for the second leg of a back-to-back set, making it difficult for him to live up to his $36 price. Even if he plays his full complement of minutes, Jokic will be fighting an uphill battle against a Spurs defense that has been the second-stingiest both overall and against the center position.
