Yahoo DFS Basketball: Sunday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

With the season winding down, this Sunday slate is big for fantasy owners, as we get 12 games to help avoid the Final Four and NCAA national championship game as much as possible. That means nearly everyone is on the board, which should lead to a fun slate.

GUARD

Dennis Schroder, ATL at BRK ($30): Schroder has been excellent since Paul Millsap got injured, averaging 23 points, five rebounds and seven assists per game, while leading the team in usage rate and shots. That should only improve in Sunday's match against a Nets team that has allowed the second-most fantasy points to point guards this season. Schroder has been solid against the Nets this season too, averaging 24.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

Rajon Rondo, CHI at NOP ($21): Rondo has been very good since recapturing the starting point guard role in Chicago, and he has scored at least 42 fantasy points in three straight games. It's not just that stretch either, as he's averaging well over 30 fantasy points per game since being renamed the starter. Meanwhile, the Pelicans have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to point guards this season.

Guard to Avoid

D'Angelo Russell, LAL vs. MEM ($29): Russell has scored 28 or fewer fantasy points in three of his last four games, and he's coming off a 12-point dud on Saturday. Sunday's matchup is very tough too, with Memphis ranking third in total defense.

FORWARD

Zach Randolph, MEM at LAL ($21): Randolph has been much better since Marc Gasol went down with injury and his price doesn't really show it. He is averaging 34 fantasy points per game over his last four, as he's tied with Mike Conley for the team lead in usage. All that is fantastic for a $21 player, and the matchup couldn't get any better, as the Lakers rank last in defensive efficiency while allowing power forwards and centers to score the most fantasy points in the league against them.

Nikola Mirotic, CHI at NOP ($17): Mirotic has found new life in his new role, averaging 37 fantasy points per game over his last six, which is excellent value for a $17 player. New Orleans is not a defense to fear either, as they rank below-average in numerous defensive categories.

Forward to Avoid

Kawhi Leonard, SAN vs. UTA ($50): Fading Leonard is a dangerous proposition, but this price and matchup are just too difficult to trust. Leonard will need to score at least 50 fantasy points to make value, and he's facing a defense that allows fewer than 39 fantasy points per game in total to small forwards. That's the fourth-best mark in the league and it's likely that Memphis will key in on Leonard with LaMarcus Aldridge missing this game. Leonard is in a minor slump too, scoring 37 or fewer fantasy points in five of his last eight games.

CENTER

Hassan Whiteside, MIA vs. DEN ($37): Whiteside is averaging 20.7 points, 14.3 rebounds and 5.3 blocks per game against the Nuggets over the past two seasons, and Denver's defense is as bad as ever, ranking 29th in defensive efficiency. Additionally, Whiteside has at least 30 fantasy points in 18 straight games, turning into one of the most reliable fantasy options in the league.

Al Horford, BOS at NYK ($27): Horford has at least 29 fantasy points in 10 straight games. That alone is good value, but it doesn't even consider the fact that he's surpassed 37 fantasy points in six of them. Sunday's matchup may be the most attractive factor in using Horford, with the Knicks allowing the third-most fantasy points to centers this season.

Center to Avoid

Rudy Gobert, UTA at SAN ($36): Gobert is easily one of the best centers in the league, but he's too difficult to use in this matchup. Not only does San Antonio rank top-three in points allowed and defensive efficiency, they allow the second-fewest fantasy points to centers.
