Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday-Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday-Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

We're down to a two-game slate for Tuesday-Wednesday as two more teams have been eliminated. With both remaining series deadlocked, there should be two competitive games with plenty of fantasy production, so let's take a look at how best to divvy up the dollars:

GUARD

Isaiah Thomas, BOS vs. WAS ($45): Thomas is today's top alternative for those who can't afford James Harden ($60), as he looks to bounce back from two subpar efforts at what is a critical juncture in the series. While he's scored 20.6 and 30.2 fantasy points the last two games, respectively, a return home should do the trick for Thomas, who averaged 60.25 fantasy points over the first two games at TD Garden on 37.0 percent usage. By comparison, that number was at just 26.4 percent in the two games in Washington.

Eric Gordon, HOU at SA ($16): Gordon has been providing solid value off the bench relative to his price throughout the first four games of the series, averaging 24.8 fantasy points per outing. He was on fire in Game 4, draining six three-pointers, and he's played over 30 minutes the last two games. While teammates Patrick Beverley ($19) and Lou Williams ($16) are both intriguing at the affordable tier as well, Gordon offers excellent and is essentially playing the minutes of a starter.

Guard to Avoid

Avery Bradley, BOS vs. WAS ($23): Bradley's hip injury, which has clearly seemed to inhibit him the last two games, is the reason for this designation, and it also saves Bradley Beal ($34) from this label, since Bradley's defense also seems to be affected. The Celtics' two-guard isn't even sure he'll practice Tuesday, and he's scored 14.4 and 7.8 fantasy points over the last two games, respectively.

FORWARD

Kawhi Leonard, SA vs. HOU ($50): Like Thomas, Leonard is his team's unquestioned leader and will be looking to avenge an embarrassing loss at a pivotal point in his series as the Spurs return home. The All-Star forward has a history of stepping his already impressive game up a notch in moments such as these, and before tallying 30.7 fantasy points in the Game 4 blowout defeat, he'd averaged 52.0 per game over the first three games of the series, including 53.8 in the two games at home.

Otto Porter, Jr. WAS at BOS ($25): With all of the attention being placed on John Wall, Porter has flown somewhat under the radar while scoring between 32.3 and 36.6 fantasy points in the first four games of the series. It's simply an extension of his regular-season success against the Celtics, which allowed 54.1 fantasy points per game to small forwards over the final 10 contests of the regular season.

Forward to Avoid

Ryan Anderson, HOU at SA ($20): This isn't to say that Anderson can't put together a productive game, but given the typical fluctuations of his performances, it's anyone's guess. After scoring 33.7 and 33.1 fantasy points in the first two games of the series, respectively, he played notably worse at home, scoring 4.2 and 18.3 in Games 3 and 4, including an 0-for-4 effort from the floor in Game 3 over 29 minutes. That follows a first-round series against the Thunder when he scored in single digits in all but one of five games. With teammate Trevor Ariza at the same price and Jae Crowder ($23) and Otto Porter ($25) within reach, Anderson can be faded.

CENTER

Al Horford, BOS vs. WAS ($29): Horford is essentially the only top-tier center on the two-game slate and is priced fairly, considering he's scored between 26.9 and 47.3 fantasy points in the first four games of the series. While his production saw a slight dip on the road, he now returns to TD Garden, where he averaged 42.4 fantasy points over the series' first two games. He's shown the ability to consistently score from anywhere on the court against the Wizards, shooting 65.0 percent from the field overall, including 53.8 percent from three-point range.

Pau Gasol, SA vs. HOU ($15):Clint Capela ($19) is also a fine choice considering he should see a bump in minutes with Nene Hilario (groin) now out the rest of the series. However, Gasol is $4 cheaper and providing better value, scoring between 28.9 and 36.1 fantasy points in the last three games. Included in that haul is an average of 9.7 rebounds per game, which is unsurprising considering the Rockets' allowed the second-most fantasy points per game (60.0) to centers in the final 10 games, including the most (66.3) over the last five.

Center to Avoid

David Lee, SA vs. HOU ($10): Lee has scored single-digit fantasy points in three straight games and just 11.4 in Game 1, and he's also splitting backup minutes with Dewayne Dedmon. His price doesn't put you at risk but his lack of production could certainly hurt your lineup, especially on such a small slate. Kelly Olynyk offers more upside at just $1 more if you must go very cheap at the position.
