Yahoo DFS Basketball: Monday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Guard

Lou Williams, LAC vs. HOU ($37): Williams has been one of the best players in the league this season, and it's strange his price hasn't risen more. Not only does he have at least 30 fantasy points in 12 straight games, Williams is averaging 42 fantasy points per game in that span. The matchup is hard not to like too, as Williams faces a Houston defense that ranks eighth in pace, while allowing the seventh most fantasy points to opposing guards across their last 10 games. He actually had 53 fantasy points in his one game against them this season as well.

Goran Dragic, MIA at CHI ($28): Dragic has been a different player since Dion Waiters went down with injury, as he's handling the ball more than ever. In fact, Dragic is averaging 21.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 0.8 steals across his last six games. The reason for that is his bump in usage, and he's leading this team with a 28.8 usage rate in that span. Chicago is a brilliant matchup too, allowing the fifth most fantasy points to opposing point guards.

Guard to Avoid

Dennis Schroder, ATL vs. SAN ($29): Schroder is actually coming off one of his best games of the season, but that happened to come against a putrid Brooklyn defense. Things won't be nearly as easy here, as he faces a San Antonio defense that ranks top three in nearly every defensive metric. Schroder has had limited upside too, as he failed to surpass 37 fantasy points in his previous eight games before that blowup against the Nets. The potential for a blowout that would cut into his minutes is worrisome too, as San Antonio should be a sizable favorite against an Atlanta team with the worst record in the league.

Forward

Draymond Green, GS at CLE ($38): For some reason. Green's eyes light up when he sees the Cavaliers, as he has his best career numbers against this team. In fact, Green is flirting with a career triple-double average against the Cavaliers, averaging nearly 50 fantasy points per game against them across the last three years. This may be the worst Cleveland defense he's ever faced too, as they rank 28th in defensive efficiency while allowing the most fantasy points in the league to opposing power forwards.

Kawhi Leonard, SAN at ATL ($34): This price is too cheap for someone of Leonard's ability, as he's usually a $50 player when at full force. The games he's missed has led to the price drop, but the fact that Leonard has played at least 26 minutes in five straight games makes it appear he's ready to get back to that $50 value. His fantasy production has been great too, as he has at least 46 fantasy points in three straight. The icing on the cake is the matchup, as Leonard faces an Atlanta defense that allows the fifth most fantasy points to opposing small forwards.

Forward to Avoid

Kyle Kuzma, LAL at MEM ($25): Since Lonzo Ball, Brook Lopez and Brandon Ingram have returned from injury, Kuzma simply hasn't been the same player. In fact, Kuzma has only reached 30 fantasy points twice in his last 11 games, and he's scored 25 or less in six of those outings. That along with this matchup is what makes him a must fade, as he faces a Memphis defense that allows the fourth fewest fantasy points to opposing power forwards.

Center

Marc Gasol, MEM vs. LAL ($34): Gasol has been too good this season to be priced this cheaply, as his 39 fantasy points per game obliterates his $34 price tag. His last three games have been especially good, as Gasol has surpassed 40 fantasy points in all three while averaging 44 fantasy points per game. The matchup against the Lakers is tasty too, as they allow the fourth most fantasy points to opposing centers. In addition, Gasol is averaging just shy of 40 fantasy points per game in his last six meetings against the Lakers dating back to last season.

Marcin Gortat, WSH vs. MIL ($19): Gortat has been underpriced on all of these DFS sites for weeks, as he's in the best stretch of his season right now. Not only is Gortat averaging 25 fantasy points per game for the season, he's averaging 31 fantasy points per game across his last six outings. Milwaukee is a team worth exploiting at center too, as that's easily their weakest link on defense. That was evident when Gortat dropped 36 fantasy points against them just last week.

Center to Avoid

Kevin Love, CLE vs. GS ($30): Love has actually had success against the Warriors in this mini-rivalry, but his current form is too scary to use him. Love has only surpassed 35 fantasy points once in his last seven games, and he's had games of 5.4, 16 and 22.8 fantasy points in that stretch. That's terrible production from someone in his salary range, and facing Golden State as a center is no easy task. The Warriors actually allow the eighth fewest fantasy points in the league to opposing centers, making Love a huge fade with all of these factors in play against him.
