Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Guards

Donovan Mitchell, UTA at HOU ($33): It's hard to trust a player who's been so inefficient, but Mitchell's usage is too high not to use him. The reason for that is the injury to Ricky Rubio, as Mitchell has taken over primary ball-handling duties whenever he's on the floor. Mitchell is posting a 32 percent usage rate in these playoffs ,while averaging 38 minutes and 23 shots per game. That has allowed him to score at least 42 fantasy points in seven of his 10 playoff games this season, despite the fact that he's shooting 40 percent from the field.

Chris Paul, HOU vs. UTA ($33): If Mitchell's price is a bargain, this is an absolute steal. It makes no sense that Paul would be priced at $33, as he averaged over 40 fantasy points per game in the regular season. That form has carried over into the postseason, as he has at least 35 fantasy points in all four games of this series. One huge reason for his success is the injury to Rubio, as it has knocked out Utah's best defensive point guard.

Guard to Avoid

Eric Gordon, HOU vs. UTA ($19): Gordon is just too inconsistent right now, and he has a track record of mixing duds with gems all season long. He's failed to crack 30 fantasy points in 12 straight games, while scoring in the teens in seven of those games. That sort of production makes Gordon an even tougher sell with this matchup, as Utah ranked second in the league in defensive efficiency in the regular season.

Forwards

Draymond Green, GS vs. NOP ($34): Green has been one of the best players in these playoffs, as he's become a triple-double machine. Not only has he scored at least 42 fantasy points in six of his last seven games, but Green is averaging nearly 50 fantasy points per game in the series. He's obliterated the Pelicans all season, averaging over 40 fantasy points per game in eight meetings -- postseason included.

P.J. Tucker, HOU vs. UTA ($10): Tucker has quietly been a huge fantasy asset in these playoffs, as his role has risen exponentially. The veteran has played at least 33 minutes in four of his last five games, and he's averaging 23 fantasy points per game in that span. That doesn't sound like anything special, but that's incredible production from a minimum-priced player. Getting a $10 player into your lineup on this sort of slate is imperative, as it makes fitting the likes of Kevin Durant, James Harden or Anthony Davis into your lineup much easier.

Forward to Avoid

Trevor Ariza, HOU vs. UTA ($13): I've reluctantly recommended Ariza throughout these playoffs, but he's simply becoming unusable with his current role. While he continues to play big minutes, the fact that he's posting a 12 percent usage rate in these playoffs makes him off-limits. It shows in his fantasy production, as he's failed to crack 25 fantasy points in 14 straight games, while scoring 13 or fewer fantasy points in three of his last four outings.

Center

Clint Capela, HOU vs. UTA ($35): There are only three usable centers in this short slate, and Capela is easily the best value. Not only has he scored at least 36 fantasy points in six straight games, but he's averaging 47 fantasy points per game in that span. Getting that sort of production at $35 is a major bargain considering Anthony Davis' price tag, as well as how badly Rudy Gobert has struggled.

Center to Avoid

Rudy Gobert, UTA at HOU ($30): As mentioned before, Gobert is easily the worst option of the top three center options. He's only surpassed 40 fantasy points twice in his last 14 games, presenting very limited upside from a $30 player. While Gobert could be well on his way to the Defensive Player of the Year award, he's been thoroughly outplayed by Capela in this series.
