Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday-Saturday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

The Warriors and Rockets face off for Game 2 in their series Wednesday, but the Eastern Conference Finals doesn't resume until Saturday. Yahoo still has a contest that will stretch across those two games, so let's take a look at some players to target and avoid to hopefully finish with a winning lineup.

GUARDS

James Harden, HOU vs. GS ($51): It's no surprise that Harden led the Rockets offense in Game 1, scoring 41 points on his way to 55.3 Yahoo points. Both of these teams play at a fast pace and have plenty of talented scorers, so this should be a high scoring series in general. Expect Harden to be very productive again Wednesday as the Rockets try to even the series before going on the road.

Jaylen Brown, BOS at CLE ($24): The Celtics continue to excel in the playoffs despite the absence of Kyrie Irving (knee). Irving's injury did leave a significant hole in their offense, one that Brown has done a nice job helping to fill. He has scored at least 23 points in each of the last three games and has scored at least 33.2 Yahoo points eight times during the playoffs. At this reasonable price, he makes for an excellent option to consider.

Guard to Avoid

Eric Gordon, HOU vs. GS ($20): Playing time is not a problem for Gordon since he is averaging 31 minutes per contest during the Rockets playoff run. The problem is he hasn't been able to cash in his playing time, scoring 21.5 Yahoo points or fewer in seven of 11 games. His main contribution comes on the offensive end and with Harden and Paul leading the scoring charge, Gordon may not have enough upside to warrant adding to your lineup

FORWARDS

LeBron James, CLE vs. BOS ($57): After struggling in Game 1, James turned things around quickly to score 42 points and log a triple-double in Game 2. It's scary that he played that well and the Cavaliers still lost, but it's great news for those playing DFS heading into Game 3. He has the highest upside of anyone available, so don't hesitate to pay the premium required to get him into your entry.

P.J. Tucker, HOU vs. GS ($12): Rotations get tight in the playoffs, so it's not easy finding cheap players who can actually provide value. Tucker scored just 15 Yahoo points in Game 1, but he did log 35 minutes. He had scored at least 20.6 Yahoo points in five of his last six games and he has secure playing time, so he might be worth the risk in tournament play at this price.

Forward to Avoid

J.R. Smith, CLE vs. BOS ($10): Smith was scoreless in Game 1 despite playing 27 minutes. It actually marked the second time in the last four games that Smith has failed to score a single point. He doesn't provide much in the way of rebounds or assists, so it's no surprise he scored 5.7 Yahoo points or fewer in both of those games. If you are looking for a cheap player to take a chance on in tournament play, look elsewhere.

CENTERS

Kevin Love, CLE vs. BOS ($30): It feels like James is doing it all for the Cavaliers, but Love is playing well right now as well, scoring at least 40.2 Yahoo points in four of his last five games. He's clearly the second-best scoring option on the team and has done a nice job on the boards as well, hauling in 15 rebounds in Game 2. James will be leaning on him heavily again Saturday to try and get the Cavaliers on the board in this series, which should leave him with plenty of value.

Aron Baynes, BOS at CLE ($10): As we continue to look for some cheap players that can help balance out your budget, Baynes should be on your radar. Baynes has moved to a bench role in this series, but still played at least 17 minutes in both contests. His production hasn't been off the charts, but he did score 25.6 and 17.7 Yahoo points, respectively. At the minimum price, it could make sense to take a chance on him in tournament play.

Center to Avoid

Clint Capela, HOU vs. GS ($35): Capela didn't play poorly in Game 1, scoring 32.7 Yahoo points. This is more about his price tag than anything else. Best case scenario, he has similar upside as Love has, who is five dollars cheaper. Every dollar counts when you are trying to fit stars like Harden and James into your lineup, so it might not be worth paying this price for Capela.
