Wednesday’s news out of NFL training camps featured some drama and uncertainty surrounding the receiving corps in the NFC East, and remarkably none of it involved the Cowboys. With the trade deadline looming in most fantasy leagues, most leagues have been divided into buyers and sellers already. It’s also likely that each team has definite strengths and weaknesses, whether it be a lack of power or an absence of strikeouts. In some instances, one player can make a huge difference in making up ground in a single category, even if it comes at the slight detriment of another category. With this in mind, here are a few under-the-radar players whose contribution in a single rotisserie category can be the difference between a league championship and a second-place pat on the back:
Last night, I did my first FFPC contest, a “Pros vs. Joes” format with six drafters who work in the industry and six non-industry ones who know the format well and presumably have had success in the past. It’s a full PPR, best-ball league with a few quirks. For starters, active lineups consist of 1-QB, 2-RB, 2-WR, 2-FLEX, 1-TE, 1-K and 1-D, but TE get 1.5 PPR. It’s also 28 rounds, so it goes deeper than your typical MFL. I drafted out of the seven spot, same place as for my NFFC Beat Chris Liss league. First prize is a free entry into their Main Event, worth $1700.
