Williams accumulated 20 points (7-11 FG, 6-8 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists and one steal across 31 minutes during Monday's 96-72 win over Stanford.

Williams has been on fire from distance to start the year, hitting 3.3 threes per game at a 62.5 percent clip through three contests -- Monday's six threes marking a career high. He was a serviceable threat from beyond the arc last year, making 1.0 per game at 33.8 percent, but is looking much improved in the early goings of 2016-17.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Williams (knee) has been cleared for all basketball activities, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.

It may not have came as quickly as Williams and the Tar Heels would have liked, but the junior guard should now be able to participate in full-team drills. That being said, WIlliams will still be monitored closely up until the start of the season, and may get a little extra rest as a result. His clearance certainly won't hurt his case for locking down the starting shooting guard job in Chapel Hill.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Williams (knee) told Adam Lucas of GoHeels.com that he has yet to work his way up to 5-on-5 drills.

Williams underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in mid-July, but was expected to be ready for North Carolina preseason activities. He apparently suffered another setback, which pushed back his timetable a few more weeks. Williams has been participating in fall conditioning and individual drills, but has yet to see live contact out of fear of "any unnecessary bumping on the knee." Expected to compete for a starting backcourt job, Williams could concede playing time to sophomore Seventh Woods if he's limited in any way to begin the season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Williams underwent surgery last week to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee and is expected to be ready for preseason, Andrew Carter of the Charlotte Observer reports.

Williams suffered from the injury in February and it forced him to miss the final 14 games of his 2016-17 campaign with the Tar Heels. However, with Williams expected to make a full recovery, expect the guard to be ready for the start of the 2017-18 campaign, where he is expected to start in the backcourt alongside Joel Berry.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Williams will undergo surgery on his right knee next week and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Williams saw a large increase in playing time from his freshman to his sophomore campaign, playing almost 20 minutes more per contest. While his overall impact -- 6.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 0.9 steals -- was relatively minor from a fantasy standpoint, he did provide valuable minutes and was a consistent starter for the Tar Heels. He hasn't completely been ruled out for the year, indicating he could return late, but the most plausible scenario involves him rehabbing for the 2017-18 campaign.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Williams (lower leg) will not play in Wednesday's game against North Carolina State, Andrew Carter of the Charlotte Observer reports.

Williams was seen on the sideline wearing a suit and sporting a pair of crutches, so there isn't much optimism surrounding the guard's health. He remains without a specific timetable for a return, so the Tar Heels will lean on Joel Berry and Nate Britt for heavy minutes in the backcourt Wednesday.

February 14, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Williams (lower body) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against North Carolina State, Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports reports.

North Carolina could be short-handed Wednesday with both Williams and Isaiah Hicks (hamstring) uncertain to play against the Wolfpack. If Williams is unable to play, look for North Carolina to lean on Joel berry and Nate Britt in the backcourt.

February 1, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Williams was held to two points, two assists, and a rebound over 17 minutes in Tuesday's win over Pitt.

Although Williams continues to start for the Tar Heels, his fantasy production continues to underwhelm relative to his role. He has just two games with double-digit points in conference play despite starting all 10 of those outings. Aside from Joel Berry, the Tar Heels do not have many appealing fantasy options in the backcourt, even if Williams and Nate Britt are both seeing healthy chunks of playing time.
