Shine (back) has returned to practice since undergoing surgery that ended his junior season after just six games.

Shine started the first game of the 2016-17 campaign and played in the next five, but was ultimately shut down after it was determined surgery would be needed to correct his back issues. Since then, mid-September practice videos have shown the 6-6 wing dribbling and shooting with teammates, and he even claimed in an interview he was near 100 percent. Though a starting spot is not yet set in stone for Shine, there will be openings at the wings with the Cowboys having lost all but two of last season's regular starting five. In his last season with regular playing time, Shine was able to contribute averages of 6.1 points and 3.3 rebounds.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Shine is dealing with a back injury and The Oklahoman's John Helsley suggests it's unlikely he will return this season.

Shine has been sidelined since Oklahoma State's final game of the Maui Invitational and it sounds as though it may have been his last action of the season. His minutes have been distributed mainly to Thomas Dziagwa, who will likely continue to receive added minutes the rest of the way.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Shine is in the starting lineup for the third straight game Sunday against Iowa State, John Helsley of The Oklahoman reports.

Shine will start alongside Chris Olivier in the Oklahoma State frontcourt, with the latter getting his first start of the season. The absences of Leyton Hammonds (finger) and Jeffrey Carroll (illness) forced the Cowboys to shake things up a bit, leaving Shine, Olivier and even Joe Burton as potential value plays in daily formats.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Shine had 12 points (all from beyond the arc), two rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals in 27 minutes during a 70-56 loss to West Virginia on Saturday.

Shine has posted averages of 10.8 points and 3.2 rebounds over the Cowboys' last five games in a greatly expanded role on offense. For the season the sophomore is only scoring six points a game, but he has come on as of late, even starting the previous two games after earning DNP's in seven of the team's first eight games. Oklahoma State will play Iowa State on Monday in the rematch of a game in February when Shine had nine points and six rebounds.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Shine tallied up 6 points (2-8 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, an assist, and a steal in 31 minutes during Oklahoma State's win over Minnesota on Saturday.

Shine returned from a shoulder injury after missing seven consecutive games. He was used heavily in his return, which could be an indication that he is back in the rotation--especially since the Cowboys have been hampered by many injuries. One alarming note, Shine struggled with his shot on Saturday, but it could be that he was just shaking off rust.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Shine (shoulder) is nearing a return to the court, but is considered doubtful for Saturday's game against Missouri State, the Tulsa World reports.

Shine has missed six consecutive contests due to the shoulder injury, and it appears likely Saturday will extend that streak to seven. The sophomore averaged just 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in approximately 13 minutes per game last season, but it's possible he'll see a larger role in his second season with the team. However, that should sort itself out better when he finally makes his return to the lineup.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Shine has been dealing with a shoulder injury he suffered in Oklahoma State's opener last Friday against UT Martin, and a timetable for his return has not yet been determined, Mark Cooper of Tulsa World reports

Shine doesn't figure to play a huge part once he returns, as the sophomore averaged only 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds last season.
