Carter (knee) has yet to be cleared for full contact work, The Detroit Free Press reports.

Carter has suffered two significant knee injuries over the course of the past year, and although he was supposed to be cleared by September, he remains on the sidelines for full team scrimmages. He ramps up his participation each day, however, and remains on track to be cleared for the start of the regular season, where he is expected to provide reserve frontcourt minutes. The Spartans open up their year Nov. 10 against North Florida, followed by a tough matchup against Duke four days later.

Carter (knee) has been participating in offseason workouts but will not be cleared for basketball activities until September, Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports reports.

Carter was recently granted a sixth year of eligibility after missing all of last season due to a unspecified knee injury after transferring from UNLV. Once fully recovered, he'll be line to serve as a depth option behind a starting backcourt consisting of sophomore stars Miles Bridges and Nick Ward.

Carter (knee) has been granted a sixth year of eligibility, clearing him for the 2017-18 season.

Carter joined the Spartans as a graduate transfer after spending his first two college seasons at Oregon before most recently playing at UNLV. After averaging 8.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in his lone year as a Runnin' Rebel, Carter was expected to add depth to Michigan State's frontcourt last season, but a preseason knee injury prevented him from ever suiting up. Fortunately, Carter will have another opportunity to play this season, representing a welcomed boost to coach Tom Izzo's team.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Carter (knee) is believed to be out for the season, Chris Solari of the Detroit Free PRess reports.

Losing Carter is a major blow to the Spartans' frontcourt depth, especially for the next month with Miles Bridges (ankle) out for two weeks and Gavin Schilling (knee) not close to playing. Currently a senior, Carter's chances at playing in a Spartan uniform depend on receiving a medical redshirt after missing this season.

Carter's knee injury is expected to be more of a long term injury according to Head Coach Tom Izzo, via Matt Charboneau of The Detroit News.

Carter along with Gavin Schilling, the two most experienced big men for the Spartans, are both out with injuries. Head Coach Tom Izzo said that Carter's knee injury is more significant and will be out longer than Schilling. Izzo would also go on to say, "We really enjoyed Ben the small period we had him." Carter transferred to Michigan State in the offseason from UNLV and was eligible to play immediately.

Carter suffered a knee injury over the weekend, and is expected to be out for an extended period of time, per Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Carter was already recovering from a torn ACL, but was expected to return for Michigan State at the beginning of the 2016-17 season. The graduate transfer from UNLV averaged 8.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, and was expected to compete for a major role with the Spartans. He currently has no timetable for return.

Carter will transfer to Michigan State and be eligible to play next season.

Carter is coming back from an ACL tear suffered at the end of January. He hopes to be ready to play by October. The 6-9 senior averaged 8.6 points and 6.0 rebounds for UNLV last season and could play a major role for the Spartans. Michigan State does not have much depth for forwards.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Carter (knee) will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL in Saturday's loss to San Diego State, Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Carter had been one of UNLV's key contributors off the bench this season, averaging 8.9 points and 7.0 rebounds over 25.8 minutes in eight conference games leading into Saturday's contest. However, the torn ACL will put an end to his season, and the Rebels could have trouble replacing his length and versatility on the wing. Look for Patrick McCaw to continue seeing heavy minutes and Ikie Nwamu saw an increase in minutes after Carter left the game Saturday.
