RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Swanigan declared for the NBA Draft on Wednesday, although he has yet to hire an agent, Jeff Goodman of ESPN reports.

Because Swanigan hasn't signed an agent yet, he's still technically eligible to return for what would be his junior year at Purdue. Although, many entities have him going late in the first round, so he's certainly entertaining the idea of moving on to the next level. His sophomore season at Purdue was a vast improvement from his freshman campaign, ending with averages of 18.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 1.1 three-pointers, while shooting just shy of 53 percent from the floor.

Swanigan scored a team-high 18 points (6-11 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 3-5 FT) with seven rebounds and four assists during the loss to Kansas on Thursday in the Sweet 16.

Swanigan had a nice game, and was dominant enough to keep the Boilermakers in the game. He did not double-double for the first time since Feb. 25. The Big 10 Player of the Year had a breakout season with 18.3 points and 12.5 rebounds. He has the size and skills to be an NBA power forward, but has not revealed his plans for next season.

Swanigan led the Boilermakers past Iowa State on Saturday with 20 points (8-19 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 12 rebounds, and seven assists in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The 6-9 sophomore had his fifth straight double-double and 28th of the season. The Cyclones made a furious comeback attempt, but Swanigan helped Purdue win with four points and two key rebounds in the last three minutes. Purdue will meet the winner of the Kansas-Michigan State game in Kansas City. Swanigan averaged 24.5 points and 16.0 rebounds in the sweep of the Spartans.

Swanigan was dominant once again Thursday as he posted his 27th double-double of the season during a win over Vermont in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. He chipped in 16 points (5-11 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 5-7 FT), 14 rebounds, and three blocks over 38 minutes.

Although Vermont got off to a hot start, Swanigan helped keep the Boilermakers in the game and ultimately pull away by dominating the glass and getting to the line. His 27 double-doubles put him one behind Michael Beasley for third-most in Division 1 over the last 20 years, according to Purdue. Swanigan and the Boilermakers will return to action Saturday against a tough Iowa State squad.

Swanigan is pushing his candidacy for national Player of the Year and is averaging 18.9 points and 13.0 rebounds. In the Boilermakers' five-game winning streak, the 6-9 sophomore has averaged 20.4 points and 14.4 rebounds. Purdue takes on Penn State on Tuesday. Swanigan notched another double-double Tuesday, posting 12 points and 17 rebounds to go with two steals and a block in the win over Rutgers.

Double-doubles have become the norm for Swanigan, who now has 22 in 26 games this season. His 13.0 rebounds per game tie him with Seton Hall's Angel Delgado for tops in the nation. Look for Swanigan to continue his run of dominance Saturday when Purdue hosts Michigan State.
