2024 Tournament PreviewOn the back of American East regular-season and tournament titles, Vermont is in the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season and seventh time since 2010. The Catamounts go nine deep, as junior TJ Long (12.2 ppg, 4.0 rpg) leads a trio of guards in double figures. They win with defense, though, ranking 61st in KenPom's efficiency metric. Vermont holds opponents to an effective field-goal percentage of 46.7, 25th in the nation, and ranks eighth in defensive rebounding rate. That will only improve if 6-8 senior Matt Veretto (shoulder) returns from a five-game absence. Offensively, the Catamounts rank just 118th in effective field-goal percentage, but they at least protect the ball with the 11th-lowest offensive turnover rate in the country. Vermont lost both its Quad 1 opportunities but is 2-0 in Quad 2 with non-conference wins over Charleston and Toledo. The Catamounts will need to get hot to get their first Round of 64 victory since 2005.
