The CFL schedule takes another important step toward the Labour Day stretch this weekend, with playoff positioning becoming increasingly significant across both divisions. This time, I'm focusing the betting card in a mix of player props, totals and spreads, and three wagers stand out thanks to favorable matchups and recent trends.
From the league's hottest quarterback to a matchup that projects as a defensive battle, these are the best bets for Week 13.
Montreal Alouettes
vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers
- Davis Alexander over 320.5 passing yards, -115 @ BetMGM
No quarterback has been more consistent through the air this season than Davis Alexander. The Montreal signal-caller has already established himself as the CFL's passing leader and has eclipsed the 300-yard mark in all but two of his starts, continuing to push the ball downfield with remarkable efficiency while avoiding turnovers.
Winnipeg presents one of the league's toughest defensive tests, as they've allowed the fewest passing yards per game in 2026 (256.9), but that also creates the type of game script that should keep the ball in Alexander's hands throughout the night. Montreal has shown little hesitation in leaning on its passing attack, particularly when facing quality opponents, and Alexander has repeatedly rewarded that confidence with explosive performances. Even against a strong Blue Bombers secondary, backing the CFL's most productive passer to eclipse 320.5 yards is an attractive way to attack Friday night's marquee matchup.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
vs. Calgary Stampeders
- Under 55.5 points, -110 @ FanDuel
While both offenses have flashed plenty of firepower this season, the total feels a bit inflated considering the circumstances. Calgary has generally played its best football at home, where its defense has done a better job limiting explosive plays, while Hamilton enters the week looking to bounce back after an inconsistent offensive showing. Plus, the fact that both teams will have backup quarterbacks under center can't be overlooked, as Bo Levi Mitchell (ankle) and Vernon Adams Jr. (head) are out for Hamilton and Calgary, respectively.
A total sitting in the mid-50s leaves little margin for error, but the lack of quality under center could generate plenty of turnovers and a tendency for both teams to rely a bit more in the running game -- and neither team has a dominant rushing attack. This projects as a game that stays below the number.
Toronto Argonauts
vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders
- Toronto to cover +4.5 spread, -110 @ BetMGM
The Roughriders deserve to be favored at Mosaic Stadium, but getting more than a field goal with Toronto offers solid value. The Argonauts have shown they can compete with anyone when their offense finds an early rhythm, and their ability to generate explosive plays makes them a dangerous underdog. Plus, the Roughriders are pretty banged up and could be missing key contributors on both ends of the field, boosting Toronto's chances to cover the spread.
Saskatchewan has been one of the West Division's most balanced teams, though several of its victories have come in tightly contested games. That creates an appealing opportunity to grab the points with Toronto, a team capable of keeping pace offensively and applying pressure throughout four quarters. Even if the Roughriders defend home field, this matchup profiles as likely to be decided by a single possession, making the +4.5 an attractive option. Toronto has been playing well of late, winning three of its last four games and covering the 4.5-point spread in four of its last five.
