Matthews was released by the Stampeders on Monday in order to pursue a National Football League opportunity, Justin Dunk of 3downnation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Matthews had 19 catches for 350 yards and one touchdown in six games with Calgary after joining the team in October. The wide receiver played in 22 NFL games dating back to 2013 and will look to latch on with one of the 32 organizations now that the CFL campaign has come to a close. Previously, Matthews played with the Seahawks and Ravens prior to his time in Calgary.
