DraftKings CFL DFS Picks: Week 12 Value Plays

DraftKings CFL DFS Picks: Week 12 Value Plays

This article is part of our DraftKings CFL DFS Picks series.

Quarterback

Trevor Harris, OTT vs. HAM ($10,500): Harris made it three straight games over the 300-yard mark last week against the Alouettes in a performance that netted 28.82 fantasy points. He has been honed in, completing more than 70 percent of his passes in three of his past four games and firing multiple touchdown passes in five of his last six. One of those contests came against this same Tiger-Cats squad, who he steamrolled for 394 yards on his way to 26.76 fantasy points in Week 9. Hamilton also continues to be ranked at the bottom of the CFL with a whopping 350.8 passing yards allowed per game.

Matt Nichols, WPG vs. SSK ($10,300): Expect another shootout between Nichols and Kevin Glenn in the Week 12 rematch between the Blue Bombers and Roughriders, making both players appealing options. Nichols racked up 23.56 fantasy points in last week's loss on the strength of his second 300-yard game of the past three weeks. He fired multiple touchdowns in three of his past four games as well, and has Weston Dressler back and healthy in his wide receiver rotation.

Kevin Glenn, SSK at WPG ($10,100): Glenn fully exploited the Blue Bombers' vulnerable secondary in Week 11, racking up 30.44 fantasy points on the back of a 386-yard, three-touchdown performance. Those numbers play a part in Winnipeg's seventh-ranked pass defense in terms of yards allowed (316.5 per game). The Bombers gave up eight passing touchdowns in the past three contests alone, and Glenn also compiled 32.28 fantasy points in his other encounter with them back in Week 2.

Travis Lulay, BC vs. MTL ($9,400): Lulay has officially been designated as the starting quarterback moving forward after having stepped in for Jonathon Jennings in the second half in Week 10 and almost leading the Lions to a miraculous comeback. Lulay scored between 25.72 and 39.14 fantasy points over four games while filling in for Jennings during the latter's absence earlier this season, and he will face a Montreal defense that has allowed a generous 297.4 yards per game while only picking off four passes on the season. Lulay brings 300-yard upside each time he takes the field and also has the advantage of a home game against a Montreal team that has given up 30.0 points and 342.3 passing yards per contest in four road games.

Running Back

Andrew Harris, WPG vs. SSK ($8,100): Harris racked up 10 receptions against this same Roughriders defense on the road in Week 11, leading to 26.1 fantasy points. As impressive as the effort was, it's worth noting he's been even better at home on a regular basis, averaging 27.9 fantasy points over four contests. Saskatchewan is serviceable but not stellar against either the run (87.0 yards per game) or the pass (283.3 yards per game), setting up Harris for what is likely another heavy workload in a potentially high-scoring contest.

Jerome Messam, CGY at EDM ($7,700): Messam scored 19.1 fantasy points on the strength of a 61-yard, two-touchdown effort against the Eskimos in Week 11 and has now seen double-digit carries in six straight games. That makes him one of the steadiest running back options in a league where the rushing attack can often take a back seat unexpectedly from one week to the next. As good as the Eskimos have been against the pass, they have been surprisingly vulnerable against the run, allowing 92.9 rushing yards per contest and five rushing scores in the last three games alone.

Kienan LaFrance, SSK at WPG ($4,400): LaFrance will fill in as the starting tailback for Cameron Marshall, who will be out 2-to-3 weeks with an undisclosed injury. He carried eight times for a modest 23 yards in the Week 11 win over the Blue Bombers after coming in for Marshall, but he will get a full allotment of touches this week as the front-line back from the beginning of the game. The Bombers allow 83.3 rushing yards per contest and LaFrance won't have to do too much to provide a solid return on his modest price.

Wide Receiver/Slotback

Duron Carter, SSK at WPG ($8,600): Carter's teammate Naaman Roosevelt ($8,700) also makes for an excellent option, but Carter has been especially impressive in recent weeks and likely offers the added benefit of serving as the main punt returner in Week 12. The mercurial receiver has scored a touchdown in five straight games, and he eclipsed 30 fantasy points twice during that stretch, including in Week 11 against this same Winnipeg secondary. His potential special teams contributions only serve to broaden his appeal, as does the fact that Winnipeg surrendered eight touchdowns to receivers in the last three contests.

Brian Burnham, BC vs. MTL ($7,900): Burnham showed a strong rapport with Travis Lulay earlier in the season when the latter had a string of starts, scoring 23.9 and 27.1 fantasy points in two of those contests. He was red-hot in the last two games before the Week 11 bye as well, scoring 27.1 and 28.2 fantasy points against the Roughriders and Redblacks. Given his impressive upside and the Alouettes' defense's struggles on the road described earlier, he makes for a strong cash or tournament play.

Diontae Spencer, OTT vs HAM ($7,400): Spencer continued his excellent stretch of performances last week, scoring 21.25 fantasy points against Montreal while racking up over 100 return yards for the third straight game. He has been seeing touches as a rusher, receiver and returner of late, which gives him a solid floor for fantasy purposes. His matchup against a Tiger-Cats squad that surrenders the most passing yards in the CFL certainly bodes well for continued success.

Bakari Grant, SSK at WPG ($6,400): Grant has the potential to see more work this week in the absence of Nic Demski (undisclosed), enhancing his already strong value. Grant exploited the Blue Bombers secondary for season-best totals of seven receptions and 139 yards in Week 11 and could see even more targets in his Week 12 role. While his production has fluctuated, he has notably scored between 17.5 and 22.8 fantasy points in five games this season, making him an appealing play against the Bombers' vulnerable defensive backfield.

Team Defense

Edmonton Eskimos vs. Calgary Stampeders ($4,400): The Stampeders got the call in this spot last week in their home match against the Eskimos, but they have been a lot more vulnerable on the road. The two will swap spots in Week 12, then, considering that Edmonton has been a solid defensive squad at home, allowing 234.8 passing yards per game while scoring a pair of defensive touchdowns. They did have a tough time slowing down the Stamps last week, but the home crowd, a desire to avoid a repeat of last week's embarrassment and the return of Derel Walker to give the offense a bit more firepower should all be factors that aid their resurgence. Additionally, it's worth noting that while Calgary has impressive numbers on offense overall, they have had their fair share of struggles on the road, scoring less than 30 points in three contests outside of McMahon Stadium.
