College Football DFS: Saturday Night Slate Picks and Strategy for DraftKings and FanDuel

I'll begin our Week 5 Saturday night DFS review with a humble brag, if you followed my recommendations from last week, you probably had a good day like I did. Here was my DraftKings result with zero deviation from my recommendations:

It wasn't first-place, but 5x investment isn't bad! Let's try and replicate that success this week.

CFB Week 5 Saturday Night Slate Overview for DraftKings and FanDuel

I would love to use Indiana running backs, but the top three rushers have some sort of injury designation, and the game's potentially lopsided total makes the decision even more confusing. My favorite underdog is Arkansas, and I think the Washigton/USC game will have the slate's highest total.

Demond Williams,Washington (DK $8,200, FD $10,800) @ USC

While I think USC's offense will generate enough to eke out a home win, their idea of Demond Williams running all over USC's inconsistent defense is definitely worth considering. My best prediction is a second-half burst of production after a slow start, as that's also when USC's defense starts to decay, even

College Football DFS Week 5 Night Slate Picks for Saturday, September 26

Quarterback

Demond Williams,Washington (DK $8,200, FD $10,800) @ USC

While I think USC's offense will generate enough to eke out a home win, their idea of Demond Williams running all over USC's inconsistent defense is definitely worth considering. My best prediction is a second-half burst of production after a slow start, as that's also when USC's defense starts to decay, even against inferior offenses.

Josh Hoover, Indiana (DK $9,000, FD $10,000)

Hoover should be a safe play against Rutgers, although he's a high-floor, low-ceiling candidate that might not generate as much upside as others on the slate. Still, he has a stable of excellent pass-catchers, and there's every reason to expect a big number against Rutgers' forgiving pass defense.

Running Back

The uncertainty of the Indiana injury report steers us away from Hooiser running backs, but it's a spot worth monitoring as game lock approaches.

King Miller, USC (DK $6,600, FD $7,400) vs. Washington

I have confidence in USC's offensive line to open up lanes for Miller, and although Waymond Jordan will always be there to steal some touches, Miller is clearly the go-to guy right now. The Huskies haven't had answers to opposing rushers this season, so this could be a smash spot.

Jeremy Payne, TCU (DK $6,000, FD $7,700) vs. BYU

I'm not thrilled about the matchup, but Payne has delivered every week, and his salaries are a little too good to pass up. Both of these teams will try to control the clock with 60/40 run/pass splits, so there will be many touches in store for Payne.

Also consider: LJ Martin, BYU (DK $7,500, FD $10,300) @ TCU

Wide Receiver

Malachi Toney, Miami (DK $8,800, FD $10,000) @ Clemson

My only worry about Toney is a lopsided total in Miami's favor, but Toney is the most dynamic player on this slate, and the only non-quarterback I would consider in the SFlex spot. The Hurricanes will find multiple ways to get the ball in Toney's hands.

Chris Marshall, Arkansas (DK $5,000, FD $7,900) @ Texas A&M

Most aren't giving Arkansas a chance on the road against the Aggies, but KJ Jackson should be able to retain his connection with Marshall. He's only recorded one touchdown, but we need a wideout at this price point for salary cap relief, and the Razorbacks will need to air it out to keep up.

Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, USC (DK $6,300, FD $8,200) vs. Washington

The Trojans are relying on freshmen to keep the passing game afloat, and Dixon-Wyatt is thriving while Trent Mosley (knee) remains sidelined. USC's defense will keep this game interesting, and Jayden Maiava should give the youngster several targets.

DraftKings-Only Targets

South Florida vs. Temple

DraftKings players can find some interesting contrarian value in this game, South Florida has quality offensive pieces in RB D.J. Crowther ($6,200) and QB Michael Van Buren ($6,100), and Temple's Sam Brown ($7,300) has jumped out to an incredible start.
