Past Fantasy Outlooks
2012
2010
Rutgers has had high hopes for Jefferson for years now, but he just doesn't seem likely to come through. He has just 22 catches over the last two years, and the former quarterback hasn't really given a reason to expect significant improvement. Rutgers is a team with weak quarterbacks but an overflow of receiver talent, meaning Jefferson is dealing with a lot of competition for limited opportunities.
Jefferson could probably be the starting quarterback for Tennessee right now, but he chose Rutgers over the likes of the Volunteers, LSU and Auburn, and he couldn't beat Tom Savage for the starting spot once he got there. But Rutgers wasn't willing to let an athlete like Jefferson waste away on the sideline, so they moved him to tight end, where he'll likely start in 2010. He's a very big target and looked like a big-play threat in limited action last year, taking his five catches for over 21 yards per catch. Rutgers hasn't used its tight ends much in the past couple years, but Jefferson's athleticism and size could make him the team's best option since Clark Harris in 2006. Jefferson could emerge as a top tight end in the Big East, and he's worth keeping an eye on in all other formats.
