Schilz has been very inconsistent throughout his Bowling Green career, showing high upside at some points but crippling turnover tendencies at others. That makes him a boom-or-bust consideration heading into 2013. Schilz has a lot of experience and two talented receivers in Shaun Joplin and Chris Gallon. He might be without top runner Anthon Samuel (personal), however, which could make defenses more able to stack against the pass. Schilz is primarily a MAC-only league consideration.
Schilz doesn't have much running ability (minus-62 yards rushing in 2011), but he has turned into a good passing quarterback for Bowling Green. He threw for 3,024 yards (7.4 YPA) and 28 touchdowns last year in just 12 games. His 13 interceptions were a bit high and the loss of receivers Kamar Jorden and Eugene Cooper is a problem, but Schilz is a good fit for the Bowling Green system and should remain at least a decent fantasy backup in 2012.
Schilz was a nice recruit for Bowling Green a year ago, as he also received an offer from Kansas State. He'll be competing with Kellen Pagel, who is a better runner than Schilz but might not be as good of a passer. Just keep an eye on this situation before you draft either player.
