Kansas returned three running backs who logged starts in 2018 (Khalil Herbert, Dom Williams and Deron Thompson) and brought in a touted recruit that's expected to contribute right away in Pooka Williams Jr., so Martin may have found snaps difficult to come by had he remained with the Jayhawks. It's unclear if Martin, who logged 90 carries for 286 yards and three touchdowns in 2017, will transfer to another school or forgo his final season of collegiate eligibility and end his playing career.
