Howe entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal Tuesday, Stephen Igoe of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Howe has seen a very limited role so far this season, rushing 20 times for 68 yards (3.4 YPC) over four games. The senior was supposed to see a starting role Saturday against William & Mary with Darius Pinnix (undisclosed) out, but instead Trace Christian ended up in the lead role, taking 14 carries for 91 yards.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
East Carolina didn't win much last season, which never helps the running game, and Howe's production amounted to almost nothing because of it. Averaging only 3.4 yards per game, he only reached 50 yards twice and was actually held to -10 yards in the team's finale against North Carolina State on six carries. A regime change with the coaching staff should help, turning to a Mike Houston-led staff that champions the running game, but there's only so much coaching can do in their first year to try and turn around a team that was second-to-worst rushing team in the conference a year ago.

Expected to be more involved as pass catcher
September 25, 2018
Head coach Scottie Montgomery indicated Monday that he plans to get Howe more involved in the passing game moving forward, Stephen Igoe of 247 Sports reports. "We need to get our backs in the passing game," Montgomery said. "I've thought we've missed our backs way too many times underneath, checking the ball down. No quarterback likes to be known as 'Charlie Checkdown,' but what we need to do is get our better players the ball in space. I think some of our most effective players with the ball in space are Hussein Howe and Anthony Scott. We haven't done it and we need to get better at it."
