Oregon St.: Vaz Loses Starting QB Job
Vaz, is expected to share time at quarterback with Sean Mannion, will not start the season opener Saturday, ESPN reports.

Coach Mike Riley said last week both Mannion and Vaz will be used interchangeably under center versus Eastern Washington. So even though he's not starting, Vaz could see action. Vaz took over for Mannion last season after the junior went down with a knee injury early in the year, and ended his 2012 campaign with 1,480 yards, 11 touchdowns and just three interceptions.

Vaz started five games last season and will be battling Sean Mannion in one of the more interesting QB battles in college football. He is listed as the spring starter but it should be a competition between the two. Vaz had solid success in the regular season posting a 11:1 TD:INT ratio but struggled in the Alamo Bowl against Texas throwing two interceptions and 194 yards.
