Makes permanent move to wideout
February 28, 2019
Coach Barry Odom said Wednesday that Wilson has made a permanent switch from quarterback to receiver, Alex Schiffer of The Kansas City Star reports.
Wilson dabbled at receiver during spring drills in 2018 but ultimately didn't factor into the passing game last season, with the lone statistics he recorded coming on the ground (six carries for 29 yards). Though Drew Lock has moved on to the NFL, Missouri brought in a new accomplished quarterback in Kelly Bryant to take over as starter, leaving Wilson buried on the depth chart at the position. He'll likely have an easier path to playing time as a receiver but shouldn't be expected to hold a major role while he adjusts to the new spot on offense.
