September 17, 2020
Onwuzurike announced Thursday he will opt out of the 2020 season and begin preparations for the 2021 NFL Draft, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
A member of the preseason watch list for the Nagurski Trophy, the 6-foot-3, 288-pound defensive tackle won't be suiting up for Washington in 2020 after the Pac-12 announced the cancellation of its season. Rather than taking advantage of the NCAA's blanket waiver for 2020 that would give opt-out players an extra year of eligibility, Onwuzurike will forgo a sixth season of college to get his professional career started. Onwuzurike tallied 45 tackles and two sacks in 2019.
