Similarly to how Camerun Peoples and Nate Noel manage to coexist at Appalachian State, so too do Williams and his backfield mate Tucker Gregg. Both players broke out last season, with Williams rushing for 859 yards on 128 carries and nine touchdowns. While Gregg still figures to keep his status as the lead back and get goal line touches, Williams’ ability to create explosive plays (6.7 yards per carry last season) makes him more of a threat for week-to-week breakouts. In an offense that had good but not great quarterback play last season, look for Shawn Elliott to lean on his ground game.
