Daugstrup announced his decision to retire from football following a fourth ACL tear, per Daugstrup's personal Twitter account.

In Daugstrup's Twitter post, he wrote, "In light of tearing my ACL for a 4th time, myself along with medical trainers agree that it is in the best interest of my future health to medically retire from playing football." The 238-pounder didn't see the field in 2022, and Indiana will now move forward with AJ Barner, James Bomba and Aaron Steinfeldt in their tight end room.
