2023 Fantasy Outlook
Last year, McMahon served as the starting quarterback for the Rice Owls, and he threw for 18 touchdowns with 14 interceptions, and he ran for three score as well. Then, injury ended his season early, and that was followed by JT Daniels transferring to Rice. In turn, McMahon has headed to Marshall. The Thundering Herd were solid in their first season as a Sun Belt team, but they got there with defense and the performance of running back Khalan Laborn. McMahon is projected to start for the Thundering Herd, but he will have to beat out Cam Fancher. Fancher took over halfway through the 2022 season, and then threw for nine touchdowns against six interceptions, but also ran 82 times for 334 yards. It feels like McMahon wouldn’t have transferred into Marshall without the expectation he’d be the starter, but there is a clear second option at the very least, so he’ll have to perform to keep the gig. McMahon (undisclosed) entered the NCAA's transfer portal Sunday, AithELITE reports.
ANALYSIS
Unfortunately for McMahon, transferring from Rice to Marshall resulted in a significant downgrade in his statistical output. At the MAC school, he logged an eight-yard pass, and that was all. McMahon will look to transfer a second time, hoping that will be the charm.
