Herath will retire from Test cricket after Sri Lanka's first Test against England, Cricbuzz reports.
ANALYSIS
The 40-year-old made his Test debut in September 1999 and over the past 20 years, currently sits at No. 10 in terms of most wickets and is second, behind only Muttiah Muralitharan and his 800 Test wickets, for Sri Lankan bowlers. Herath was in fine form against South Africa this summer, taking 12 wickets over the two matches including a six-wicket haul at Colombo in the second innings. However, he told the team selector's that he wouldn't be able to make it through the whole series. Herath is currently third on the list of most wickets of an active player, behind only England's fast-bowling pair of James Anderson (564) and Stuart Broad (433).
