Swapnil top scored for the UAE on Thursday, accruing an unbeaten 57 off 100 during a 146-run defeat to South Africa.
Entering at No. 5 in the 13th over, Swapnil outlasted batsmen from either side, remaining in the crease for 138 minutes to create a satisfactory result for the Associate. Among his six partnerships, his most productive yield was the first with Shaiman Anwar, who has busted out for 309 runs in his five World Cup innings. After Anwar's dismissal, though, the remaining five wickets fell periodically while Patil took resident in front of either stump. In five tournament appearances to date, Patil has averaged 33.50 at a strike rate of 57.51, while making three catches and no stumpings with the gloves.
