PICKS TO CLICK
TJ Shorts Over 15.5 Points (-115 FanDuel)
Shorts has escaped a loaded Panathinaikos roster and is primed to fill an alpha role for Valencia. The only downside is Valencia frequently rotates its players, but perhaps that changes with Pedro Martinez no longer on the bench. Still, the massive usage potential outweighs my concern. I think we see a vintage night from Shorts within the first three Rounds of the season and I want to be ahead of the curve rather than behind it.
Derrick Alston Jr Over 11.5 Points (-115 FanDuel)
Alston was so good to us last year, and he now gets an even bigger workload and didn't need injuries for it to happen. He averaged around 15.0 ppg in the preseason and should have the ball in his hands a ton.
Braxton Key Under 5.5 Rebounds (-135 FanDuel)
Unders worked out very nicely for us Thursday so I won't shy away from them Friday. Key rebounded well during the preseason, but I think it pushed this number up a bit too high. Fenerbahce loves to shuffle their frontcourt based on matchups, which leaves the playing time all over the place. I'm hoping we luck into a low-minute game for Key, but even if we don't he's surrounded by players who crash the glass and could help get us home.
Alec Peters Over 10.5 Points (-118 FanDuel)
Peters is no longer in the backup role behind Sasha Vezenkov, and he will have the green light as well as high minutes and usage. Much like Shorts, I think we see a 20-point night from Peters early, and I will keep backing him until it happens. The dude simply has one of the purest jumpers in the world.
