Training Camp Notes: September 1

This article is part of our Training Camp Notes series.

Here are some of the top fantasy football headlines from Tuesday.

-The Alvin Kamara saga that began Monday kicked into a higher gear Tuesday, when the Saints leaked to media that they would consider trading Kamara if they can't come to an agreement on a contract extension. Of course, the Saints won't just give Kamara away if they can't sign him to a new deal, and it's hard to see what team would be willing to pay enough for the Saints to give him up. The situation might be moot because Kamara said he intends to return to practice Wednesday, pointing to an epidural shot as the reason for his absence. There doesn't seem much reason at this point to worry about Kamara's availability in New Orleans for 2020.

-The Kamara situation escalated perhaps in part due to the contract extension agreed to between Joe Mixon (migraines) and the Bengals, who settled on a four-year, $48 million deal. He returned to practice afterward, so if he remains there without further issue then his presence in Week 1 can be assumed once again.

-Tyrell Williams previously expressed the intention to play through his torn shoulder labrum, but the Raiders placed him on season-ending injured reserve Monday. That makes clear that the Raiders will go into the year with rookies Henry Ruggs and Bryan Edwards as their top two outside receivers, though free agent pickup Nelson Agholor could factor in as a formidable third man there. Hunter Renfrow might be a bit safer in the slot in light of the Williams absence, if only because it will likely require Ruggs to run more outside routes than he would have if Williams were available.

-After missing several practices with a neck issue, Zack Moss returned to full-contact practice Tuesday, clearing the way for him to continue his pursuit of a central role in the Bills offense. Before he picked up the neck injury Moss was impressing in basically all facets of running back play, including on passing downs.

-Ravens coach Jim Harbaugh offered concrete praise of rookie second-round pick J.K. Dobbins, who Harbaugh said would have a "significant role" even with Mark Ingram remaining the starter. Gus Edwards remains present as an effective between-the-tackles specialist, but Dobbins brings a pass-catching threat that even Ingram likely lacks. This unfortunately might be a hot-hand situation with plenty of rotation, because each of the three has shown the ability to provide strong production.

-DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) and Kenyan Drake (foot) had been missing recent practices, but Arizona coach Kliff Kingsbury said Tuesday that both will return to full practices imminently. Hopkins had only been dealing with muscle tightness, but Drake arguably has more to prove after his foot tweak briefly landed him in a walking boot. Drake assured everyone he was fine the whole time, though, and according to Kingsbury he's close to proving it for all to see.

-Parris Campbell participated in the non-contact portion of practice Monday but remained in the league's concussion protocol following a car accident last week. It's not clear on what basis he might gain clearance or how soon, but the tone around Campbell has been positive from the Colts.

-The Jets' ridiculous injury issues only piled up higher Tuesday, as Chris Herndon (chest), Jamison Crowder (leg) and Chris Hogan (undisclosed) all took a seat with injuries, though in each case they were described as minor. It would be more reassuring if Breshad Perriman (knee) had returned to practice, like the Jets said he would Saturday, but Perriman remains out all the same. Hopefully Herndon, Crowder and Hogan don't suffer any similar postponements from here.
