Both DraftKings and FanDuel DFS lineups consist of one QB, two RBs, three WRs, one TE, one flex (RB/WR/TE) and one DST unit. All players have the same salary cap hit in preseason DFS contests, so this format is all about finding the highest-scoring fantasy players rather than balancing production against cost.
Teams typically rest key starters for the vast majority or entirety of preseason games, so the strategy for preseason DFS contests centers on targeting younger players or fringe roster prospects who are likely to see extensive playing time and make the most of it.

Quarterback
Anthony Richardson, IND vs. DET: Richardson has been named the starter for Saturday's preseason finale, giving him an opportunity to make a final push in his competition against Riley Leonard for the second spot on the QB depth chart behind Daniel Jones. The 2023 fourth overall pick has struggled as a passer, but Richardson offers elite rushing upside and has a big arm that can allow him to hit downfield shots. Richardson was limited to two appearances in an injury-riddled 2025 season, but he had 499 rushing yards and six TDs in 11 starts during the 2024 regular season.

Running Back
Trayveon Williams, DET at IND: Williams turned 11 touches into 60 scrimmage yards and a TD in his Lions debut last week. The mid-August signing could see another sizable workload Saturday, as Jahmyr Gibbs is set to rest while Isiah Pacheco (back), Sione Vaki (back) and Jabari Small (concussion) are hurt, leaving Williams, Jacob Saylors and Roydell Williams as the only options expected to be available for the Lions at RB.
Salvon Ahmed, CHI at TEN: Ahmed still has a chance of making the team in a depth role due to Kyle Monangai's knee injury, as the Bears may opt to keep two of Roschon Johnson, Brittain Brown and Ahmed on the roster behind D'Andre Swift to begin the season if Monangai isn't available out of the gate. The former Dolphins RB has had a strong preseason for Chicago, as Ahmed has rushed eight times for 53 yards while catching six of eight targets for 69 yards and a TD.

Wide Receiver
Deion Burks, IND vs. DET: Burks will likely be on the outside looking in come cutdown day, but the rookie seventh-round pick out of Oklahoma has one more opportunity to impress the Colts' coaching staff before then. He had a team-high four catches in last week's preseason loss to the Falcons, and Burks figures to see plenty of action in the preseason finale as Indianapolis sorts out its backup QB situation.
Xavier Restrepo, TEN vs. CHI: Restrepo appeared in two regular-season games as a rookie and finds himself on the roster bubble in his second year. Cam Ward's former favorite target at Miami has made multiple catches in each of Tennessee's first two games this preseason. Unlike his former college teammate, Restrepo isn't nearly important enough to be rested in this game.
Tom Kennedy, DET at IND: Kennedy has been surprisingly quiet this preseason considering he usually shines in the exhibition slate. It's not too late for the 30-year-old wide receiver to rediscover his preseason magic while helping QBs Joshua Dobbs and Luke Altmyer make their final pushes for the backup role. In 19 career preseason games, Kennedy has 41 catches for 412 yards and two TDs.

Tight End
Sam Roush, CHI at TEN: Roush is locked in as Chicago's No. 3 TE behind Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet. The rookie third-round pick had a 49-545-2 receiving line at Stanford in 2025, and Roush has started his Bears tenure with a pair of multi-catch preseason performances.

Defense/Special Teams
Indianapolis Colts vs. DET: The Colts are Saturday's heaviest favorites at -3.5, and Lions-Colts also has the lower over/under of the two games at 35.5 points, per DraftKings Sportsbook. The Lions are banged up in the backfield and haven't gotten much passing production this preseason out of Dobbs and Altmyer, who are battling for the backup role behind Jared Goff. The Colts could go with a run-heavy approach with Richardson under center to start the game, which would allow Indianapolis to control possession and keep the score low with time-consuming drives.
