NFL Picks and Props for Week 2

The 2026 National Football League heads into the second Sunday of the regular season, and soon we'll start really having some dependable trends to hang our hats upon. For now, it's all about gut feeling, history and common sense.

Looking at the point totals offered by the sportsbooks, the Washington Commanders and Dallas Cowboys have the highest expected point total at 51, with the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears with a projected total of 48 on Sunday. Let's get started!

Cleveland Browns at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Prop Plays

*Best lines at time of writing listed

The Browns and Buccaneers meet at 1:00 p.m. ET at Raymond James Stadium on CBS.

This is a game Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield has likely had circled on his calendar since the NFL schedule was announced. Whether he wants to admit it or not, this is a revenge game of the highest proportions. The Browns cast him aside like garbage, acquiring Deshaun Watson in hopes of vast improvement. We all now know that the Watson trade and millions of guaranteed money will go down in NFL history as one of the worst moves ever made.

Mayfield gets a chance to show the Browns, front and center, what they're missing. The team selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, and he bled orange and brown. The city loved him, and he really had that lunch pail mentality that the blue-collar fans loved. Even the most ardent Browns fans will likely smile seeing Mayfield do well, and that's what we're banking on him doing.

Mayfield had a disastrous game in a 33-27 loss at Cincinnati last Sunday. While he completed 82.1 percent of his pass attempts (23 of 28), he finished with 216 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions with three fumbles lost.

I cannot stress this enough. Go Over on Mayfield's passing total on Sunday, and go rather aggressively on that. He is going to do everything in his power to make his former team pay. And, after getting blanked in the opener, he is a good bet to go for at least two TD passes.

Somebody is going to have to be on the other end of those passes, and second-year WR Emeka Egbuka is a good bet to get to at least four receptions. He had five grabs for 63 yards on six targets in Cincinnati, and to get to five this week, he is plus-money. We'll buy that.

For the Browns, the touchdowns are likely to be hard to come by, but Andre Szmyt might get a chance at a couple of field goals.

And, looking to Watson, he had an interception just three minutes into the Week 1 game in Jacksonville. We'll order that up again this week.

Best Prop Pick: Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield - Over 214.5 Passing Yards (-113 FanDuel)

Best Prop Pick: Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield - Over 1.5 Passing TDs (-110 Bet365)

Best Prop Pick: Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka - Over 4.5 Receptions (+120 BetMGM)

Best Prop Pick: Browns PK Andre Szmyt Over 4.5 Kicking Points (-125 Bet365)

Best Prop Pick: Browns QB Deshaun Watson Over 0.5 Interceptions (-144 DraftKings)

Jacksonville Jaguars at Denver Broncos Prop Plays

*Best lines at time of writing listed

The Jaguars and Broncos get together in an early-season AFC showdown at Mile High, and this should be a fun one.

Jacksonville QB Trevor Lawrence carved up the Browns last week, and he could have more success in Denver against a Broncos defense which was torn apart on Monday night in Kansas City by QB Patrick Mahomes. Lawrence had four touchdowns in Week 1, and he is plus-money to simply get to two passing scores.

Last week, Chris Rodriguez Jr. debuted with 23 rushing yards on six totes, while he was not used in the passing game. I think that changes for CRJ on Sunday, and he is more used in the passing game. He is a good bet to go Over 27.5 combined rushing + receiving yards.

Look for Denver, Jaylen Waddle debuted with just one reception for two yards in Kansas City. The team is likely to make a concerted effort to get him the ball more in the home opener. We'll play Waddle to get to at least five receptions in Game No. 2 in a Denver uni.

Going back to Jacksonville, Brenton Strange is a huge value at plus-money for his receptions total. He had two receptions for 23 yards and a touchdown last Sunday. He should see more work against a more tenacious Denver pass rush.

Best Prop Pick: Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence Over 1.5 Passing TDs (+135 BetMGM)

Best Prop Pick: Jaguars RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. Over 27.5 Rush/Receiving Yards (-115 Bet365)

Best Prop Pick: Broncos WR Jaylen Waddle Over 4.5 Receptions (+110 FanDuel)

Best Prop Picks: Jaguars TE Brenton Strange Over 3.5 Receptions (+106 FanDuel)
