NFL Week 4 Odds: Biggest Line Moves, Betting Splits and Key Injuries

The goal of this article is to look at the key line moves for the week and what they mean in terms of betting. Key numbers in the NFL to watch for are 3, 7, 6, 14, and 10. When a line crosses through one of these, it warrants significant attention.

On the totals side, the key numbers are 41, 43, 37, 44, 51, 33, 47.

A quarterback is the only position that can significantly move an NFL point spread, and a top-tier QB can be worth up to seven or more points. For all other positions, the impact is minimal and usually less than a single point, unless multiple players on the same unit are injured. When a unit has multiple starters out, it is often overlooked in the handicapping world. OL, DL, secondary, and WR are the units that are impacted the most.

NFL Week 4 Report

Week 4 brings several significant NFL line moves, including a favorite flip in Arizona-New York, moves through the key number of three in multiple games and major adjustments to several totals.

Injuries are also becoming increasingly important. Tampa Bay will start a backup quarterback, Miami has lost its top running back, San Francisco's injury list continues to grow and Washington's quarterback situation remains unresolved.

Current spreads and totals are from the Week 4 market, while betting percentages are from DraftKings Sportsbook.

Steelers at Browns: Pittsburgh Remains Below Three

Lookahead: Steelers -2.5 | Total 37.5
Current: Steelers -2.5 | Total 38.5
Movement: — | Total +1.0
DK Spread Split: Steelers 45% bets | 56% money

Pittsburgh remains a 2.5-point road favorite, but the betting distribution is interesting. Cleveland is attracting 55% of the spread tickets, while Pittsburgh has 56% of the money. The line nevertheless remains below the critical number of three.

Injury Impact: Pittsburgh RB Rico Dowdle remains sidelined by a toe injury after missing Week 3. CB Brandin Echols is in concussion protocol, while DB Jalen Ramsey is dealing with a wrist issue. CB Joey Porter Jr. is trending in a better direction. Cleveland C Elgton Jenkins is in concussion protocol on the short week, while CB Tyson Campbell is trending toward a return.

Betting Takeaway: This is a mild ticket-money disagreement, with more individual bets on Cleveland but more dollars backing Pittsburgh. A move from Steelers -2.5 to -3 would be much more significant than the lack of movement we've seen so far.

Colts vs. Commanders: Washington Gains a Point in London

Lookahead: Colts -4.5 | Total 46.5
Current: Colts -3 | Total 47.5
Movement: WAS +1.5 | Total +1.0
DK Spread Split: Colts 67% bets | 55% money

Indianapolis has fallen from -4.5 to -3 despite receiving 67% of the spread tickets and 55% of the money. The move toward Washington against that betting support makes the Commanders' side of the market particularly interesting.

Injury Impact: Washington QB Jayden Daniels remains uncertain because of his elbow injury, although he is traveling to London and is expected to practice in some capacity. Marcus Mariota would start again if Daniels can't play. TE Chig Okonkwo is also expected to practice after dealing with a hamstring injury. LB Leo Chenal underwent season-ending neck surgery. Indianapolis WR Alec Pierce continues to rehab his heel injury.

Betting Takeaway: Daniels is the biggest variable. The Colts are getting the majority of tickets and money, yet the line has moved 1.5 points toward Washington and reached the key number of three. That's one of the more notable line-versus-betting-split combinations of Week 4.

Cardinals at Giants: Arizona Flips From Underdog to Favorite

Lookahead: Cardinals +2.5 | Total 43.5
Current: Cardinals -1.5 | Total 44.5
Movement: ARI +4.0 | Total +1.0
DK Spread Split: Cardinals 79% bets | 92% money

Arizona has gone from a 2.5-point road underdog to a 1.5-point favorite, producing one of the largest Week 4 adjustments. The betting market strongly supports the move: Arizona has 79% of spread tickets and an enormous 92% of the money.

Injury Impact: New York has suffered two major losses. QB Jaxson Dart is out for the season because of his knee injury, fundamentally changing the Giants' quarterback situation, while edge rusher Brian Burns has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and will also miss the remainder of the season.

Betting Takeaway: This is one of the cleanest market moves of the week. The spread has moved four points toward Arizona while both tickets and larger wagers are heavily concentrated on the Cardinals. Anyone holding Arizona +2.5 captured substantial early value.

Patriots at Bills: Buffalo Reaches Seven

Lookahead: Bills -5.5 | Total 50.5
Current: Bills -7 | Total 48.5
Movement: BUF +1.5 | Total -2.0
DK Spread Split: Bills 68% bets | 61% money

Buffalo has moved from -5.5 to the key number of seven, while the total has dropped two points. The Bills also have clear public support, receiving 68% of spread tickets and 61% of the money.

Injury Impact: Bills QB Josh Allen took a hit to his knee late against the Chargers, although Buffalo has downplayed the concern. CB Christian Benford injured his toe and should be monitored. New England WR A.J. Brown continues to recover from an ankle injury.

Betting Takeaway: The movement and betting splits agree on Buffalo, but the price has changed considerably. Bills -5.5 bettors captured an excellent early number; laying seven requires crossing one of the NFL's most important margins.

Jets at Bears: Big Money Backs Chicago

Lookahead: Bears -3.5 | Total 43.5
Current: Bears -3 | Total 42.5
Movement: NYJ +0.5 | Total -1.0
DK Spread Split: Bears 60% bets | 90% money

Chicago has moved onto the key number of three, but the DraftKings splits tell a much stronger Bears story. Chicago has 60% of spread bets but a massive 90% of the money.

Injury Impact: Jets RB Breece Hall is considered week-to-week after suffering a thigh injury Sunday. WR Garrett Wilson underwent concussion testing but was cleared. Hall's absence would reduce New York's rushing and receiving explosiveness. Chicago enters on a short week following Monday Night Football, making its first full practice report important.

Betting Takeaway: The 30-point gap between Chicago's ticket and handle percentages suggests substantially larger average wagers on the Bears. The curious part is the line: despite that money imbalance, Chicago has moved from -3.5 to -3 rather than toward -4.

Cowboys at Texans: Dallas Attracts Massive Ticket Volume

Lookahead: Texans -2.5 | Total 47.5
Current: Texans -2.5 | Total 47.5
Movement: — | Total —
DK Spread Split: Cowboys 89% bets | 62% money

Dallas is one of the most popular underdogs of Week 4, attracting 89% of spread tickets and 62% of the money. Houston nevertheless remains a 2.5-point favorite.

Injury Impact: Houston hopes to regain WR Nico Collins from a hamstring injury and RG Ed Ingram from a groin injury. Collins would substantially increase the Texans' passing-game ceiling, while Ingram's return would help the offensive line. DE Jadeveon Clowney remains week-to-week with a knee injury. Dallas' defensive injury situation should also be monitored.

Betting Takeaway: The lack of movement is the story. Dallas has nearly nine of every 10 spread tickets, yet Houston hasn't moved off -2.5. The gap between Dallas' 89% ticket share and 62% handle also indicates the average Houston wager is considerably larger.

Rams at Eagles: Los Angeles Takes Nearly All the Money

Lookahead: Rams -3 | Total 46.5
Current: Rams -2.5 | Total 44.5
Movement: PHI +0.5 | Total -2.0
DK Spread Split: Rams 80% bets | 97% money

Few games have a more extreme betting distribution. Los Angeles is attracting 80% of spread tickets and an extraordinary 97% of the money. Yet the Rams have moved from -3 to -2.5, off the most important key number in NFL betting.

Injury Impact: Rams WR Puka Nacua remains one of the biggest offensive players to monitor after missing Week 3 with a hip injury. DE Myles Garrett also remains unavailable, weakening Los Angeles' defensive front. Philadelphia is on a short week following Monday Night Football, so its first Week 4 practice report carries additional importance.

Betting Takeaway: This may be the most fascinating split-and-line combination on the board. The Rams have overwhelming ticket and money support, yet the number has moved toward Philadelphia. That divergence deserves close monitoring.

Packers at Buccaneers: Bettors Take the Points With Tampa Bay

Lookahead: Packers -1.5 | Total 45.5
Current: Packers -3.5 | Total 39.5
Movement: GB +2.0 | Total -6.0
DK Spread Split: Buccaneers 86% bets | 92% money

This is one of Week 4's most dramatic markets. Green Bay has moved from -1.5 through the key number of three to -3.5, while the total has collapsed six points. Yet bettors are overwhelmingly taking Tampa Bay +3.5: the Buccaneers have 86% of tickets and 92% of the spread money.

Injury Impact: Tampa Bay QB Baker Mayfield is expected to miss approximately three weeks after dislocating his right thumb. Rookie Jalon Daniels is expected to start, representing one of Week 4's largest quarterback downgrades. WR Jalen McMillan is also undergoing evaluation for a knee injury. Green Bay remains without edge rusher Micah Parsons as he works back from his ACL injury, while WR Jayden Reed remains sidelined by a neck injury.

Betting Takeaway: The injury-driven line move favors Green Bay, but bettors are attacking the adjusted price on Tampa Bay. Moving through three before seeing 86% of tickets and 92% of money land on the Buccaneers makes this one of the week's most compelling markets.

Jaguars at Bengals: Cincinnati Takes the Money, Jacksonville the Tickets

Lookahead: Bengals -2.5 | Total 50.5
Current: Bengals -2.5 | Total 51.5
Movement: — | Total +1.0
DK Spread Split: Bengals 45% bets | 93% money

This is arguably the most extreme ticket-to-money discrepancy of Week 4. Jacksonville has 55% of spread tickets, but Cincinnati has an incredible 93% of the money.

Injury Impact: Jacksonville's defensive health remains worth tracking, while Cincinnati CB Brandin Echols entered concussion protocol. Additional Bengals secondary absences would matter against Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville's passing game.

Betting Takeaway: The average Cincinnati wager is clearly much larger than the average Jacksonville bet. Despite Jacksonville having the majority of tickets, the Bengals have nearly all of the handle while remaining -2.5. This is one of the week's strongest betting-split signals.

Titans at Ravens: Baltimore Attracts Overwhelming Support

Lookahead: Ravens -10.5 | Total 44.5
Current: Ravens -11.5 | Total 43.5
Movement: BAL +1.0 | Total -1.0
DK Spread Split: Ravens 82% bets | 82% money

Baltimore has moved another point into double digits, and DraftKings bettors strongly agree: 82% of both spread tickets and money are on the Ravens.

Injury Impact: Ravens TE Mark Andrews is dealing with a hand injury that limited him in Week 3. Baltimore's complete offensive report bears watching because multiple injuries among its pass catchers could create a cumulative effect. Tennessee's first official practice report should clarify its Week 4 availability questions.

Betting Takeaway: Unlike several games this week, there is no ticket-money disagreement. The spread movement, bets and money are all pointing toward Baltimore. The next meaningful threshold would come if the Ravens begin approaching -13.5 or -14.

Dolphins at Vikings: Injuries Drive Five-Point Total Collapse

Lookahead: Vikings -10.5 | Total 43.5
Current: Vikings -10.5 | Total 38.5
Movement: — | Total -5.0
DK Spread Split: Vikings 58% bets | 58% money

The spread hasn't moved, and DraftKings betting is evenly aligned at 58% of both tickets and money on Minnesota. The major market story is instead the five-point decline in the total.

Injury Impact: Miami RB De'Von Achane suffered a torn ACL and has been placed on injured reserve. RB Jaylen Wright is also day-to-day with foot/stinger issues, making Ollie Gordon particularly important. WR Caleb Douglas is dealing with an ankle injury. Minnesota WR Justin Jefferson suffered a sprained ankle Sunday, although imaging showed no major damage. TE Josh Oliver tore his biceps and is expected to undergo surgery. The Week 4 injury tracker is being updated as practice information becomes available.

Betting Takeaway: The five-point total decline is much more significant than the side. With important offensive players injured on both teams, the market has dramatically lowered its scoring expectation without changing Minnesota's expected margin.

Broncos at 49ers: Denver Money Creates Split

Lookahead: 49ers -3.5 | Total 46.5
Current: 49ers -3 | Total 46.5
Movement: DEN +0.5 | Total —
DK Spread Split: 49ers 59% bets | 48% money

San Francisco is receiving 59% of spread tickets but only 48% of the money, leaving Denver with 52% of the handle despite only 41% of the bets.

Injury Impact: San Francisco will be without DE Nick Bosa because of a calf injury. WR Mike Evans is day-to-day with a rib strain, while LT Trent Williams and LB Dre Greenlaw also exited Sunday's victory and need to be monitored. Those injuries affect three high-value areas: pass rush, pass protection and receiving explosiveness.

Betting Takeaway: This is another useful ticket-money discrepancy. More individual bets favor San Francisco, but more dollars are backing Denver. The move from 49ers -3.5 to -3 also favors the Broncos' side of the market.

Chiefs at Raiders: Kansas City Money Outpaces Tickets

Lookahead: Chiefs -5.5 | Total 45.5
Current: Chiefs -4.5 | Total 47.5
Movement: LV +1.0 | Total +2.0
DK Spread Split: Chiefs 56% bets | 73% money

Kansas City has the majority of both tickets and money, with the 17-point difference between its ticket and handle shares indicating larger average wagers on the Chiefs. Yet the line has moved a full point toward Las Vegas.

Injury Impact: Raiders WR Jack Bech suffered a forearm injury in Week 3 and is headed to injured reserve. Brock Bowers' health also remains important following his earlier knee/meniscus issue. Kansas City's practice report should be monitored for offensive-line and skill-position limitations.

Betting Takeaway: The line movement runs opposite the betting distribution. Kansas City has 73% of the money, but the Chiefs have fallen from -5.5 to -4.5. That's a notable market divergence.

Chargers at Seahawks: Seattle Money Dominates

Lookahead: Seahawks -7 | Total 43.5
Current: Seahawks -7 | Total 42.5
Movement: — | Total -1.0
DK Spread Split: Seahawks 69% bets | 93% money

Seattle remains exactly a touchdown favorite, but the betting splits are heavily tilted toward the Seahawks. Seattle has 69% of tickets and a massive 93% of the spread money.

Injury Impact: Los Angeles entered Week 3 with offensive personnel concerns and needs its Week 4 practice reports to clarify which players remain limited. Seattle's report is similarly important after a physical 33-31 loss at Washington.

Betting Takeaway: The 24-point gap between Seattle's ticket and handle shares suggests substantially larger wagers on the Seahawks. Despite that support, the sportsbook has resisted moving beyond the key number of seven.

Lions at Panthers: Detroit Moves Through Three

Lookahead: Lions -2.5 | Total 49.5
Current: Lions -3.5 | Total 50.5
Movement: DET +1.0 | Total +1.0
DK Spread Split: Lions 68% bets | 57% money

Detroit's one-point move is significant because it takes the Lions directly through the key number of three. Detroit also has the majority of tickets and money, although its ticket share exceeds its handle percentage.

Injury Impact: Carolina CB Jaycee Horn suffered a torn quadriceps and is expected to miss significant time, a major loss to the Panthers' secondary. WR Jalen Coker has a quad strain and should be monitored. LB Devin Lloyd also remains an important defensive availability question. Detroit's offensive-line health deserves continued attention because multiple absences there can have a cumulative impact on the running game and Jared Goff's protection.

Betting Takeaway: Lions -2.5 bettors captured considerable value by beating the move through three. Detroit remains the more popular side, although the smaller money percentage indicates Panthers wagers are larger on average.

Falcons at Saints: Total Surges Three Points

Lookahead: Saints -3.5 | Total 45.5
Current: Saints -3 | Total 48.5
Movement: ATL +0.5 | Total +3.0
DK Spread Split: Saints 74% bets | 94% money

New Orleans has moved from -3.5 to the key number of three even while attracting 74% of the tickets and 94% of the money. Meanwhile, the total has surged three points.

Injury Impact: Atlanta's most important offensive development remains QB Michael Penix Jr.'s return to the lineup. CB A.J. Terrell also remains a defensive player to monitor. New Orleans RB Travis Etienne is expected to miss time after suffering a hamstring injury against Las Vegas, while LB Pete Werner left that game with a stinger.

Betting Takeaway: New Orleans has overwhelming betting support, particularly in the handle, yet the spread has moved toward Atlanta. Combined with the three-point increase in the total, the market appears to be giving greater respect to Atlanta's offensive ceiling with Penix back.

NFL Week 4 Betting Trends

Several markets stand out entering Week 4. Arizona has flipped from a 2.5-point underdog to a 1.5-point favorite while attracting 79% of tickets and 92% of the money. Cincinnati has only 45% of the tickets against Jacksonville but 93% of the money. Chicago has 60% of bets against the Jets but 90% of the handle.

Rams-Eagles may be the most unusual combination: Los Angeles has overwhelming betting support, yet the Rams have moved off -3 to -2.5. Packers-Buccaneers provides another fascinating contrast, with Green Bay's quarterback-driven market advantage pushing the Packers through three while DraftKings bettors overwhelmingly take Tampa Bay +3.5.

The injury reports and betting splits will continue changing throughout the week, making movement around three and seven particularly important to monitor before kickoff.
