At age 33 there was speculation Brown might be shifted over to play safety this season, but the Cleveland brass has made it clear he will remain at cornerback. He is likely to start opposite Joe Haden, although Dimitri Patterson should provide competition, and is a decent bet for modest tackles numbers for the position and a couple interceptions. In his two years with the Browns he has averaged 55 tackles and two picks.
The veteran will start at corner in the team's new 4-3 defense, one Brown says he feels more comfortable in than the old 3-4.
Will start for the Browns and should provide an immediate impact to what has been a stagnant group of defensive backs in recent years.
Will start at corner back.
Brown doesn't put up eye-popping stats, but continues to be a decent IDP option. Expect more of the same in 2008.
Starting cornerback. Just an OK IDP option, however, as he doesn't rack up many tackles or INTs.
Starting cornerback with a knack for making big plays.
One of the most consistent players on the defense, Sheldon Brown made a big impression during his first season as a full-time starter in 2004. He earned All-Pro honors from Sports Illustrated, played a major role in the Eagles' star-studded defensive backfield that included three Pro Bowlers, and signed a lucrative, six-year contract extension that will keep him in Philadelphia through 2012.
With the free agent departure of pro bowlers Bobby Taylor and Troy Vincent, the Eagles will start Brown and the cornerback position. Brown gained valuable experience in 2003 while Taylor and Vincent were injured, but he will have big shoes to fill in 2004 as a full-time starter.
Brown who was the fourth CB in 2002 will back up left CB Troy Vincent. Brown played extremely well on special teams and has earned the right to compete with Lito Sheppard for the nickel slot in 2003.
