Pectoral
August 7, 2013
Coleman tore his pectoral muscle during Tuesday's practice, and is most likely out for the season, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Coleman was a veteran of Rob Ryan's 3-4 defense, playing in his defenses in both Cleveland and Dallas. He is a run-stopping defensive end who was added this offseason to help bolster the Saints' rushing defense, which gave up the most rushing yards in the league last season. Coleman will have surgery on Thursday, and although he would not have been valuable as an IDP in most formats, his likely loss for the entire season diminishes the depth at defensive line for the Saints defense.

Coleman will compete for a starting position at defensive end but is more likely to serve as a rotating backup, limiting his fantasy value.
Solid but unexciting veteran DE could be hard-pressed to keep his spot on the roster.
Run-stuffing DE could pick up the occasional sack.
Will likely begin the year as a backup with Shaun Rogers making the move to end.
The Browns acquired Coleman in the trade that sent the No. 5 overall pick to the Jets. He is used to playing in Mangini's 3-4 scheme and should be able to contribute right away. He'll pick up his share of tackles, but he'll need to work on his pass rushing ability before you can consider him a legit IDP candidate.
Coleman has only racked up 8.5 sacks in 88 career games, but should see an increase in playing time with the Jets. He's unlikely to see any double teams, so Coleman could have a breakout season.
Depth player up front for the Cowboys defense.
Coleman could start at DE to begin the year due to the injury to Marcus Spears, but figures to be a depth defensive end long-term.
