Dorsey (knee) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group reports.
ANALYSIS
Dorsey was inactive for the 49ers' matchup with the Rams this past week, as he was dealing with some discomfort in his knee. However, he's slowly upped his workload in practice over the last few days, going through a limited practice Wednesday, before logging a full session Thursday. It appears he should be good to go moving forward, so look for him to jump back in as the team's starting nose tackle heading into a Week 17 tilt with the Seahawks.

Dorsey only suited up for 10 games in 2015 before tearing his ACL on Nov. 22. He didn't do much from a fantasy perspective during that span, recording just 18 tackles and no sacks. After an offseason of rehab, Dorsey is progressing well and could be ready for action Week 1. If he is deemed healthy enough to play, he will have to compete with first-round talents Arik Armstead and DeForest Buckner for playing time at the defensive end position.
Dorsey is recovering from a torn biceps muscle, but should be ready for training camp. He performed well as the 49ers' nose tackle in 2013 and was signed to a two-year extension in 2014, despite injuring his arm. He would be the favorite to start at nose tackle for San Francisco this season, but there have been rumblings about him sliding back to defensive end as well. Regardless of where he lines up, he won't have much IDP value, as Dorsey doesn't get to the quarterback often.
Dorsey didn't have a strong statistical season in 2013 (28 TOT, 2.0 sacks), but his large frame was ideal for stuffing the run at the nose tackle position. He is listed as the starter heading into 2014, and that should remain the case barring any sort of injury.
Though originally signed to fill the void at nose-tackle this season, Dorsey will have to compete with Ian Williams for the job and should ultimately end up as a back-up lineman behind both Williams and defensive end Justin Smith.
The former first-round pick is a solid source of total tackles for a defensive lineman, but playing as an end in a 3-4 alignment, Dorsey simply doesn't produce enough sacks to warrant regular use as an IDP. If the Chiefs made a move to a 4-3 base defense he could become a more disruptive pass rusher as a defensive tackle, but that's unlikely to happen anytime soon under the watch of Romeo Crennel.
As an undersized end in Kansas City’s 3-4 defense, Dorsey likely won’t be a factor as a pass rusher, as he only has four sacks in his three-year career. But he made frequent stops against the run last year, boasting an impressive 51 solo tackles on the way to a total tackle tally of 69. If you need solo tackles but can live without sacks, Dorsey is a super reliable target, and his lack of upside probably means he'll come cheap.
Dorsey hasn't lived up to the hype that surrounded him as the fifth overall pick in 2008, but he made strides in his second year in Kansas City. Unfortunately, he's ill-suited to play defensive end in the 3-4, a position that doesn't fit his frame and hinders his potential pass-rushing abilities. He did have 54 tackles last season and could contribute in deeper IDP leagues, but don't expect a worthwhile sack total.
Dorsey led all rookie defensive lineman with 46 tackles last season, but he posted just one sack and wasn't the distruptive force that many expected. Now he faces the challenge of transitioning from defensive tackle to defensive end in Kansas City's upgraded 3-4 defense. The changes should help him pick up a couple more sacks, but don't expect a major change in his number of tackles.
Dorsey will be an immediate starter for the Chiefs and could rack up sack totals that are rare for a defensive tackle.
