August 30, 2017
Brooks was cut by the Eagles on Wednesday, Dave Zangaro of CSN Philly reports.
ANALYSIS
This is a tough break for Brooks, who looked like he was on the cusp of carving a meaningful role with the defense this season. Despite his many highs early in camp, Brooks has had a riddled injury history that has limited his availability during his NFL tenure. After cutting Brooks , it's conceivable that the Eagles may make a run at fellow corner Joe Haden, who was released by the Browns on Wednesday.

Brooks finished the 2015 campaign on injured reserve after dealing with neck, shoulder and head injuries throughout the season. He is reportedly healthy entering 2016, though, but appears to have lost out to Nolan Carroll for the Eagles' starting CB role opposite the newly-acquired Leodis McKelvin. Nonetheless, he should still see the field often in passing situations, but not enough to warrant any sort of fantasy consideration.
Primarily a special teamer, Brooks did find himself pressed into the lineup late last year and responded with 17 tackles in the final two games. If given an opportunity, he has flashed an ability to get stops in the secondary, though several are ahead of him on the depth chart.
Brooks is a reserve defensive back and is only a contributor on special teams at this point.
Brooks is possibly the top candidate for the nickel position in the Bills defense. He is primarily competing with Justin Rogers and Crezdon Butler for the role.
