2013
Williams took a step back in 2015, recording less tackles than the previous year and losing out on an opportunity to replace current starter Aaron Williams after he suffered a serious neck injury. The fourth-year safety will likely serve as a backup in 2016 as well as participate in special teams, making him an IDP option to avoid in most scenarios this coming season.
Williams enters his third season as the favorite to start alongside Aaron Williams now that Da'Norris Searcy is in Tennessee. He might have to beat out Corey Graham, who could be switched from corner to safety, but if Williams lands the job he could be one of the breakout IDPs of 2015. Logging 528 defensive snaps, Williams surpassed 50 tackles as a part-time player last year while intercepting one pass. As a starter, he likely would push for closer to 1,000 snaps. Even 900 snaps would put him on a 90-tackle pace based on last year's numbers.
Williams was a fourth round draft pick in 2013 and got his feet wet as a rookie last year. He should have an opportunity to expand his playing time a bit in his second season and may ultimately bloom into a viable NFL starter. For fantasy purposes he shouldn't be counted on in 2014 and only be rostered in the deepest of dynasty leagues.
If Williams can beat out Da'Norris Searcy for the starting safety spot opposite Jairus Byrd, Williams could find his way on the IDP radar in 2013.
