Gilberry is poised to backup Ezekiel Ansah and Devin Taylor at defensive end as a sub-package pass rushing specialist. However, barring an injury to either player ahead of him on the depth chart, Gilberry probably won’t see enough playing time to warrant IDP consideration and is unlikely to approach the 7.5 sacks he accumulated in 2013 with the Bengals.
Gilberry enjoyed his best professional campaign last season, when he posted 24 tackles (18 solo) and 7.5 sacks. With Michael Johnson leaving in free agency this offseason, Gilberry is projected to start at right defensive end for the Bengals this season, boosting his fantasy value.
A deep sleeper in IDP leagues, Gilberry finished second on the team in 2010 with seven sacks. After bulking up some in the offseason, he may fight for more playing time and that could translate to an extra few sacks. If he can boost his tackle numbers, which were a meager 23 total last season, he could become a bye-week option.
Gilberry ranked second on the team in sacks with 4.5 last season, though that may say more about the Chiefs' supply of defensive talent than it does about Gilberry's individual skills. Nonetheless, he is a good outside pass-rusher and was able to rack up his sack totals despite playing almost exclusively in nickel and dime situations. He seems to be a player on the rise, but not enough to make him worth drafting even in deep IDP leagues.
