2023 Fantasy Outlook
Roby had to fill a significantly bigger role during his second season in the Saints' secondary, which was extremely banged up in 2022. The 30-year-old provides a solid veteran presence, but he'll likely take a backseat role in 2023 behind younger cornerbacks Paulson Adebo and Alontae Taylor. Read Past Outlooks

Zero picks in nine games
CBPhiladelphia Eagles
January 20, 2024
Roby finished with 22 tackles, one forced fumble and zero interceptions in nine regular-season games for the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Roby failed to make the roster out of camp but was elevated from the practice squad in Week 5, playing a pair of games before missing the next three with a shoulder injury. He returned to play eight of the final nine games but didn't make a big statistical impact.

Lined up to make impact in Philly

The Eagles signed Roby to their practice squad Tuesday, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Roby hasn't played in any capacity since training camp, when he failed to make the Saints roster. That said, the Eagles are likely to show patience with the veteran corner as he gets up to game speed and learns the defensive system. However, McManus suggests that once those things occur, Roby will be promoted to the active roster and likely serve in a significant role as the team's slot corner.

Roby delivered on a one-year, prove-it contract in 2019, and the Texans re-signed him to a three-year contract during the offseason. He was limited to 10 games by a Grade 1 hamstring strain, but graded out as the Texans' best defender in the secondary, per Pro Football Focus. He recorded 38 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, a touchdown and one forced fumble. Roby will take the mantle as the team's top cornerback.
The Texans lost a pair of cornerbacks during the offseason roster shuffle but added Roby, a five-year veteran that's missed one game during his career. He slots into the starting job opposite Jonathan Joseph. Roby has shown a nose for the ball in the past with seven interceptions and seven forced fumbles.
Roby has huge shoes to fill in ascending into Aqib Talib's former spot opposite Chris Harris, but let's not pretend that Roby hasn't seen plenty of snaps since joining the team as a first-round pick in 2014. Roby has been great at getting his hands on the ball as a No. 3 corner, tallying six picks, five forced fumbles, and recovering four fumbles during his career. His 17 passes defensed in 2017 more than doubled any of his teammates. Head coach Vance Joseph wants Roby to play sounder and take fewer chances, but Roby is still going to have a nose for the ball -- just like the man he's replacing.
By most accounts, Roby took a step back in his third season in Denver, recording career lows in tackles and passes defended. He also posted a 48.7 grade per Pro Football Focus, down from 76.1 in 2014 and 81.8 in 2015. He did get hot in bunches, however, with all eight of his passes defensed, his two interceptions, his lone forced fumble, and his two scores taking place over four games. Look for him to be more consistently productive with Denver’s reinforced front seven.
The 2014 first-round pick was tied for second on the team in passes defended in 2015 with 10, but did his best work with the ball on the ground. His fumble recovery for a touchdown capped an improbable win against Kansas City in Week 2 and his forced fumble against Pittsburgh in the AFC divisional round sparked the team's comeback. He has already deserves his spot in the No Fly Zone as an outside corner in sub-packages, but he could see a spike in playing time should starter Aqib Talib miss any time due to suspension.
Taken with the 31st overall pick in the 2014 draft, Roby is expected to start on the opposite side of newly-acquired Aqib Talib. He'll certainly get some competition from Chris Harris, although the latter is recovering from a torn ACL. Roby could be a heavily targeted corner this season because of Talib, which will put the spotlight on him to make plays.
