Barnes is expected to line up as a starting outside linebacker in the Jets' 3-4 defensive scheme. He played in 11 games with the Chargers last season.

Barnes had a big year with 11 sacks in 2011, but the Chargers drafted an impact player in Melvin Ingram at his position this year, so it remains to be seen exactly how the outside linebacker rotation will shake out in 2012.

Barnes is probably going to end up as a backup outside linebacker this season.

Barnes won't see much playing time behind Jarrett Johnson and rookie Sergio Kindle.
