Robertson would have cost $16 million against the Broncos salary cap this year, so given his disappointing performance in 2008, his release is not surprising.

Robertson continues to battle knee injuries that have plagued him for his entire career and he figures to play relatively sparingly on the defensive line this season.

He's become a solid player through three seasons with the Jets, but New York was thinking star when they nabbed Robertson with the fourth pick of the 2003 draft. We should find out this year if he's ever going to be anything special.

He improved significantly last season, and became a force from the core of their interior. He has been effective at using his size and strength to absorb double teams and open up opportunities for other linemen, but will now also be counted upon to improve his sack numbers.

The Jets moved up aggressively to select the Warren Sapp clone #4 overall in the 2003 draft. After a disappointing rookie season, we expect Robertson to relax a bit and provide the Jets with more of what they were looking for when they picked him.

The Jets fill their biggest need by landing Robertson, who has been compared to Warren Sapp. Robertson picked up 48 tackles (34 solos) and five sacks in his junior year at Kentucky, ordinary numbers, but his stock sored during pre-draft workouts.
