Closer Watch

Yankees – Rafael Soriano served as the closer Thursday after David Robertson's Tuesday and Wednesday outings (an edge-of-your-seat save and a blown save) didn't go all that well. Soriano finished it off, but did allow a run. This situation remains fluid in the absence of Mariano Rivera.

Marlins – Heath Bell put up a scoreless inning on Wednesday, but Ozzie Guillen said he's going to need to see more consistency from him before reinserting him into the closer's role. Steve Cishek is probably still the best play here until that happens, though Edward Mujica may get his chances as well.

Pirates -- With Joel Hanrahan bereaved, Juan Cruz gets to close games for a couple days.

Recommended Pickup

Tim Stauffer, SP, SD – Stauffer is just 18% owned in Yahoo! leagues, 38% in ESPN and 34% in CBS, which means he's probably available in your league in advance of his upcoming return next week. With a 3.73 ERA and 1.25 WHIP last year – 2.57 and 1.13 at Petco Park – Stauffer is worth owning in deeper formats. You'll have to start him selectively – meaning mostly at home – but the one-time fourth overall pick can deliver results if used as such.

Other Recent Recommendations:Casey Janssen, Alex White, Wei-Yin Chen, Will Middlebrooks, Andrew Cashner
