Closer Watch

Rays – Fernando Rodney gave up two runs in the 10th inning in a non-save situation Monday, but don't hold your breath waiting for Joel Peralta just yet; despite his ugly 36:22 K:BB, Rodney's saved four in a row and had gone seven straight outings without allowing a run. That said, Peralta is quite clearly the best arm in this pen, a fact that speculators should keep in the back of their minds.

Red Sox – Gifted that two-run lead by Rodney on Monday, Andrew Bailey came on in the bottom of the 10th and made a big mess, giving up a leadoff homer to Jose Lobaton, followed by two walks, a single to load the bases and another walk to force in the tying run, but avoided the loss and got out of the inning with the help of a huge double play. As it is, the save chances have been few and far between for Bailey, who hadn't even had an an opportunity to convert since May 25. Junichi Tazawa lurks in the wings, but with how good Bailey's been this year, it's going to take some serious struggles for him to lose his job.

Recommended Pickup
Will Middlebrooks, 3B, BOS – Middlebrooks' early batting-average slump and the back injury that sent him to the DL got him cut in a lot of leagues, but he was activated Monday and returned with an RBI single in his first at-bat. He'll still need to get his plate discipline in order to get that average up, but it's promising that he posted a 4:3 BB:K over the course of his Triple-A rehab stint. Regardless, he should be a quality source of everyday at-bats and power stats for fantasy owners going forward.

Other Recent Recommendations: Eric Stults, Kyle Blanks, Matt Garza, Chris Johnson, Dan Uggla
