NFL Picks: Texans and Jaguars

This article is part of our NFL Picks series.

A poor week for the staff with three eight-win showings and two disasters. I do appreciate Jeff Erickson one-upping me on the disaster front, though. This week, there are only two consensus picks, the Jaguars and Texans.

EricksonI can't get the Giants right in any given week - and I'm sick of picking them. So they're probably a perfect reverse best bet... The Packers could be without both Tramon Williams and Sam Shields, and the Panthers' offense is getting better, hence I like taking the points so much... Pretty comfortable with taking the points for the Texans, though I get the idea that the Steelers won't always stink... I took the Jaguars because of the Browns' center Alex Mack being out - the other two teams that have lost their centers this year (Eagles, Falcons) had immediate struggles offensively after the respective injuries.
PianowskiI hate this card and have zero confidence with it. I'm sure I've missed 2-3 pick-sixes that will cause my underdogs to go down in flames.
LissTough slate, lots of coin flips. I like the Ravens at home laying seven against a soft Falcons team with a bad offensive line. I also like the Bills laying the wood at home against a rookie QB who looked bad against Detroit last week.
StopaThe Giants are a logical buy-low after laying an egg, with the Cowboys an obvious sell-high after their huge win. Pitting the two together, the value has to be with the Giants... Aren't the Lions better than the Saints right now on a neutral field, particularly without Jimmy Graham? I expect an angry, bounce-back game from Seattle, even on the road.
Del Don I rarely if ever have picked a road favorite as my best bet, but this week was extremely tough for me to come up with one. So please pay no attention to that. My teaser of the week is the Patriots and Broncos. Go to the bank with that one.
