As of November 23, 2016, Kelly will be eligible for the Champions Tour, but if his recent play is any indication of what's to come, that tour may have to wait a while before they get their hands on Kelly. Four seasons ago, Kelly actually looked ready to "graduate" to the Champions Tour as he posted his worst numbers in over a decade. He followed that up with another subpar season and at that point, it looked like Kelly had mailed it in, but two years later and Kelly looks like a new man. Kelly has finished the past two seasons at spots 68 and 72 on the FedEx points list and there are no signs that a drop-off is imminent. With that said, there's limited upside with Kelly, so he's not a good salary cap candidate this season. In drafts, he's a 10th-round pick.

As recently as three seasons ago, it looked like Kelly was getting ready for the Champions Tour, but that changes last season when he found the fountain of youth and had his best season since 2011. Kelly spread out four top-10s throughout the schedule last year, which is a good sign because his placement on the money list wasn't simply due to one hot streak during the year. With that said, he is 48 years-old and he's not getting any younger. He's not a good option in salary cap leagues this year, but he should be drafted around the 9th or 10th round.

Kelly topped the $1 million mark as recently as 2011, but at his age, an improvement is unlikely. Kelly has virtually no upside at this price and as such, you simply can't take him in a salary cap format. He probably doesn't offer much in a draft format either and he'll once again be fighting to stay within the top-125 this season.

Safe to say, Kelly's best days on the golf course are behind him, but he still finds a way to produce, even at age 45. Kelly collected eight Top-25s in 2011, just as he did in 2010. He's likely to continue that trend again this year, but the high-end finishes are now few and far between. Kelly managed to make a decent chunk of change during the early part of the season last year, so those in draft leagues might want to take a flyer on him for the first two months of the year, but be aware that even a good start likely will not lead to anything down the road.

Kelly found the fountain of youth in 2009 when he captured a win at the Zurich Classic and parlayed that into a nice run during the FedExCup. But last year there was no magic to be found, as he posted his lowest earnings since 2000. Signs of his decline? Perhaps, but Kelly probably has a little left in his tank. He's still five years off from the Champions Tour, so his focus is squarely on maintaining his PGA TOUR spot. Look for Kelly to have a slight bounce-back this season and creep a little further up the money list. Kelly is usually among the PGA TOUR's best at accuracy off the tee, and when he's playing well his putter is usually the reason.

Kelly played like he did in his 20s last season. That's a good thing because when he was last in his 20s, he crept up near $3 million in 2002. The odds that he can improve on his 2009 season are low, but it's possible. After all, he only won once last season and made it into the top-5 one other time. Kelly is certainly capable of finding the top-5 more often, but it's not likely that we'll see multiple wins in 2010.

Kelly's game continued to regress in 2008. His entire year was made up of four good outings in which he earned about $1.3 of his $1.65 million in earnings. Kelly is starting to get up there in age also and his game may to continue down the same path.

Jerry Kelly had a nice rebound year in 2007. The only problem is that most of his production came within a three-month span from March through June. Outside of those three months, Kelly captured only two top-10s in 19 events. Kelly is starting to get to the point when you have to wonder if age is going to be a factor. He'll turn 42 this year, and while he's not quite ready for the Champions Tour, you might start to see some decline in his skills. After all, it's not like you just lose everything one day, it's a process, you slowly lose certain abilities over time. Maybe it starts when you're 45, maybe 42, who knows. The point is to be a little weary of those over 40.

Kelly is still hanging in there. He doesn't win anymore and he's not quite as consistent as he used to be, but he's still productive. Kelly will put up a couple good performances each year and he's usually reliable in mid-summer events when the fields are watered down.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Kelly was once the model of consistency. Even if he couldn't post a win, he could sure earn a nice chunk of change. Those days, however, are gone. Kelly needed the fall season last year just to retain his card. During the regular season Kelly managed only one top-10. One top-10 from a guy who use to card a top-10 every month. Perhaps that's jumping the gun. After all, Kelly cracked $2 million the previous three years, and 2005 was really the first sign of a slow down. Nevertheless, Kelly is likely on the way down.

Quite a year for Kelly as he missed only two cuts in 29 events in 2004. This is truly a rough call, as there's a fear Kelly may have peaked in 2002 when he won twice and earned nearly $3 million for the year. There is no way you can look at his results from last year and think he will regress, but the fact is he has not won on Tour since that 2002 season. A tie for fifth was as high as he finished during the regular season, but he was in the money most of the time. This is hard because a break here or there and we are talking about a player who won over $3 million last year. We think he will get that break here and there in 2005 and crack the $3 million dollar barrier.

Kelly didn't quite live up to expectations last year. He was fairly consistent in 2003, spreading his Top 10s throughout the whole season (10 of them), but he didn't win or come in second in any events. Although Kelly has plenty of game left, we're slotting him in for only modest improvement off his 2003 total of $2,158,342.
