46-Year-Old Golfer
2024 Fantasy Outlook
There was no outlook written for James Driscoll in 2024. Check out the latest news below for more on his current fantasy value.
February 10, 2014
Driscoll is in the field for this week's Northern Trust Open.
ANALYSIS
Driscoll has never made a cut in three tries at Riviera. But he's made six of eight cuts on the season, with a personal-best T18 at the Humana, and sits a respectable 52nd in the FedEx Cup points race. So maybe this is the year for Driscoll to play the weekend.

Driscoll first joined the PGA Tour in 2005 and although he's done a good job of maintaining his playing privileges over the past nine years, he's never cracked the $1 million mark. In fact, last season he posted the highest earnings number of his career. His ceiling is obviously limited, which makes him a poor choice for salary cap leagues. He might be worth a look in drafts depending on how deep the league is.
For the second consecutive season, Driscoll just made it into the top 125, securing his card for the following season. Two years ago, he came in at No. 114 on the money list and last year he fell to No. 122. That's not the direction you want to be heading. At this pace, Driscoll will be back at Q-School by season's end. Driscoll picked up a couple top-10s last season, but outside of that, there was nothing spectacular. He is not a good option in salary cap leagues this season and should go undrafted as well.
It's surprising that a player who misses so many cuts can retain his card, but that's exactly what Driscoll did last season. Driscoll missed the cut 12 times in only 24 events, but he played well three times last season, which was just enough to crack the Top 125. Driscoll's poor cut percentage was no fluke last year, either, as he did the exact same thing in 2010. Driscoll simply doesn't make enough cuts to significantly improve his number from 2011.
Driscoll has played on the PGA Tour in four of the last five seasons, but he has barely hung onto his tour card a couple times. Driscoll's runner-up finish at the Valero Texas Open last season allowed him to retain his card for the 2010 season, but his best finish outside of that event was a 27th-place tie at the Crowne Plaza Invitational. Driscoll's fantasy value is very limited.
