T53 at TPC Potomac
July 3, 2018
Flores finished in a tie for 53rd place after rounds of 72-68-71-69 this week at the Quicken Loans National.
ANALYSIS
Flores was only able to make nine birdies for the week, which ranked T73 in the field, but he did also have an eagle. He lost strokes approaching, around, and on the greens, but was 23rd in SG: Off-the-tee. Flores was also T16 in greens hit in regulation, but T63 in putts per GIR. It's been a tough year as Flores ranks 145th in FedExCup standings with just two top-25's in 23 starts along with 10 missed cuts. He will be in the field for next week's Greenbrier Classic.

Flores was well outside the top-125 when he teed it up at the Barbasol Championship in late July, but a top-20 there, started a streak of four consecutive top-20s, which vaulted him safely inside the top-125. Flores actually played fairly well during the first FedEx playoff event, but he wasn't able to sneak inside the top-100 and move onto the next event. Flores has six full seasons under his belt on the PGA Tour and just about every one of them has been the same, with Flores fighting tooth and nail to hold onto his card. With a limited ceiling, Flores simply isn't a good salary cap option.
Flores lost his PGA Tour card after 2014-15, but was fifth among Web.com regular-season money winners to earn a trip back. It'll be a struggle to stick around. He did make the playoffs three years running from 2012-14, but slipped to 156th in points the following season to return to the Web.com Tour.
Flores has been a full-time member on the PGA Tour for four years and the last three he's managed to retain his card, but little more. He's remained right around the $1 million mark, give a take a couple hundred thousand and it doesn't appear that he's about to make a big move either way anytime soon. With that in mind, Flores doesn't hold much value in salary cap leagues this year. In draft leagues he may go undrafted depending on how deep the league is.
Flores joined the PGA Tour in 2012 and had a solid rookie season with over $1 million in earnings. Last year he regressed a bit, but to his credit, he didn't completely implode like some other sophomores. Flores' upside is not known right now as he's only put two years in on the PGA Tour and as such, he's probably not a good salary cap selection. He's got some value in draft leagues though and should go in the 100-110 range.
Flores played well in his rookie campaign but he lacked the high-end finishes as well as the consistency that it takes to move higher on the money list. Flores started the season well with a top-10 at the Farmers Insurance Open and followed with a top-20 the next week, but then the lack of consistency kicked in. Flores needs to improve his consistency this season if he's to retain his card for 2014. If not, he could end up fighting for his card at Q-School. In draft leagues, Flores should go in the 10th round or later.
