T30 at Greenbrier Classic
July 9, 2018
Stegmaier jumped into a tie for 30th place after a final round three-under 67 on Sunday at the Greenbrier Classic.
ANALYSIS
Stegmaier was able to move up 30 positions in the final round even though he bogeyed his final hole. The biggest reason it looked more difficult than it needed to be was because Stegmaier ranked dead last in fairways hit, but he was still able to come out of the positive end of all five strokes gained stats. This T30 at the Greenbrier Classic marks the best result of the season for the 35-year-old. Stegmaier needs to make a big move in the FedExCup standings next week at the John Deere Classic.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
Stegmaier fell apart in his second full season on the PGA Tour, his best finish a mediocre 21st at the RSM Classic 11 months ago. Now with his third straight season of securing his PGA Tour card, Stegmaier will look to prove his 2015-16 season of over $1 million in earnings wasn't a fluke after his dismal $271,031 last season. He's undraftable in salary cap leagues, his stock in draft leagues falls past the 10th round.
Stegmaier sure picked his spots during his rookie season. In his second event on the PGA Tour, Stegmaier finished runner-up, which gave him a little breathing room heading into the heart of the season. Unfortunately, Stegmaier struggled mightily during the winter and spring portions of the season. Luckily, he capped his season with a T5 at the Wyndham Championship and sealed his spot in the top-125. Stegmaier did just enough during his rookie season to retain his card, but not much more. With that in mind, he doesn't has the upside yet to justify a salary cap selection this year. In draft leagues he'll go very late, after the 10th-round.
